I should clarify this. After missing on the blue chip guys, offer the best available HS kids above market rev share offers, then drop NIL bags on transfers (assuming weāre still able to do that).
In my view, things are a bit too fluid for anyone to have arrived on a āplanā. Roster management is now an evolving process. I think coaches are trying to discover what works, and what doesnāt. I suspect that weāre a couple of years from anyone committing to a āplanā. I think everyone is now flying by the seat of their pants, and we will see who is getting it right in the months to come.
The Athletic is continuing their version of the coachesā confidential thing: Tyran Stokes or Jordan Smith Jr.? College hoops coaches on their favorite players in 2026 - The Athletic
To answer the Q in the headline, Jordan Smith Jr got 9 out of 35 coach votes, Tyran Stokes got 8. Relevant to us, Arafan Diane got 2 votes, Ethan Taylor got 1.
Diane, a 7-1 center from Norwalk, Iowa, and the No. 15 player in the class (per 247Sports), was the only other player to pick up multiple votes.
Atlantic 10 head coach: āRebounds, runs the floor, has super high motor. He can handle it and dribble. He can operate as a hub, and then heās just a monster in the post, monster rim runner, runs so hard, puts so much stress on the defense. Just plays so hard. Heās so physical. Heās fantastic.ā
Big 12 head coach: āEthan Taylor. Seven-footer who catches the ball and can score and doesnāt have an ego and plays hard. He comes off the bench on his team, and he might be the best player on the team.ā
This guy should be establishing an empire in the Mediterranean with that name
I donāt think weāre getting Bryson Howard.

Davion Adkins named a top 6, sans UVA, so heās out.
The father son connection not hitting?!
Idk idk this staff has shown that doesnāt matter with Jacari ![]()
Texas > Wisconsin in a vacuum, but maybe not when you think about how crowded it is with competition and how good the major programs are there.
What are Cody Peck and Christian Gibson up to?
We hardly knew ya, Junior

Where will Bo Ogden end up?
- Texas
Iām fine with not having someone named Adolph on the team
Guards Im keeping an eye on:
Jayden Hodge: We have the euro/Belgian connection (heās liked everything UVA and Thijs). Dad is instate currently and familiar with UVA. From bugging HGN, I know they have their eyes on FIBA Euro going on currently where Hodge is balling out for Belgium. And with him being under the radar on under armour his recruitment hasnt been as active. I feel like we could really land this one if we pushed hard.
Quentin Coleman: Does new staff have that juice to lock up the late summer riser commitment like Tony did that we may be took for granted?
Do we jump into the Colben Landrew/Ethan Mgbako recruitments? Colben really blew up and Alabama/Auburn are recruiting him as a serious target now on top of Purdue being on him for the last year plus. And Mgbako has a really strong peach jam (surprised his recruitment hasnāt blown up more).
Do we get back involved with Christian Gibson? He can be a chucker at times and he doesnāt have one skillset or tangible (wingspan, athleticism, etc.) that is elite but man he can get buckets, and efficiently (at times*).
And do staff make the offer to Jalyn Collingwood at Sidwell? Matt Henry being a Sidwell alum and Sidwell in general having a lot of familiarity with UVA as a school.
Mingo: Meh. Both on our chances to actually land him and on the flip side making the pitch/effort to build the team around him. Donāt think heās dynamic enough to be the playmaker we need, heās never shown elite assist to turnover ratio or elite vision, and we have seen atrend of HS kids sucking in college more often now (maybe due to grown men, maybe due to development hurdles, idk). Now that Ive said this though, what Mingo be the first pick in the 2027 draft.
Also Bo Ogden is going to Texas and #OfferDariusBivins
My mostly wild guesses where recruits end up
Jordan Smith-Duke
Bo Ogden-Texas
Cody Peck-Tennessee
Junior County-Arizona
Luca Foster-Michigan
Cole Cloer-UConn
Latrell Allmond-Kansas
Billy White-UVA, why not
Christian Gibson-UCF
Fred Smith-Memphis
Deron Rippey-Alabama
Will Stevens-South Carolina
Lucas Morillo-No clue
Arafan Diane-Arkansas
Davion Adkins-UCLA
Bryson Howard-Kentucky
Dylan Mingo-No clue
Jayden Hodge-Villanova
Ethan Taylor-Missouri
Quentin Coleman-Iowa
I think we sorta have to adjust as fans to normal fall recruiting though. Weāre used to it being very clean cut under TB, just the way he did things. Things will change for some of them once we get into Sept/Oct and spots start getting grabbed. Completely expect more offers will go out and weāll be talking about a few new ones by then too.
This is kind of an upset pick against Indiana, is it not? (but still a belief in the strength of Adidas I guess)
Yeah thereās a lot of Indiana buzz with Allmond. Adidas + Kenny Johnson. But heās visiting Kansas too, the first football weekend. And they have a history with Team Loaded players, Frank Mason David McCormack.
Ohhhh, thatās why they were on Prince-Alexander Moody. Indiana will be interesting to followā¦their dip into Euro recruiting has been generally panned (at least by Nick Kalinowski) and Basket Under Review talked about them as an example of ādid they really get value for moneyā in terms of their portal work.
Frank Mason (Petersburg) will surely get in Allmondās ear at some point.
Just kinda feels like a Kansas recruitment.
