Which is weird — he left because he couldn’t get any PT under…..James Franklin.

Sorry, didn’t mean to insult you by implying that you didn’t know the geography. That wasn’t my intent at all. I agree with you on all that. I guess I take it for granted that we have so many quality FCS schools in the state that are similar culturally and we can pay them less because they’re bus trip schools instead of plane flight schools. We can rotate between W&M, Richmond, Norfolk State, VMI…even JMU back in the day before they moved up.

Yes it’s true that Missouri only beat sub .500 teams, but they are also undefeated against any teams outside the top 15, and they hung with two playoff teams. Depends on framing! Not at all surprised that they are favored.

If we beat Charlotte instead of losing to NC State where would we have been ranked in the first rankings Week 11 at 9-0 instead of 14 at 8-1? BYU was ranked 7th at 8-0 with a win over Utah. We had a win over Louisville that was about as good. They were blowing out their opponents while we were squeaking by though.

So at best 8th between BYU and Texas Tech an at worst 14th where we actually were at 8-1. After TTU was Oregon, then 2 loss teams Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma and Utah.

And then after losing to Wake how far would we drop?

I only bring this up because I don’t think losing to NC State vs beating a patsy would make much, if any, difference in our rankings.

No worries. You just nailed a point I forgot. I don’t mind the UVa cupcakes as much because at least its a cheaper payout than flying Umass out to Mizzu.

Missouri is a D2 state with most smaller schools going that route so maybe they got screwed with that

Damn. These helmets are amazing. Do you think TaxSlayer will have a stack of school-branded 1099s at the stadium?

I guess Tyler Jones has to say this since the waiver is still pending, but I was hoping for a scenario where we would see a higher ceiling at QB next year. Of course, a healthy Morris should in theory be better next year, but that also ignores his well-documented history of getting hurt.

Planning for him to be back compared to two weeks ago when they were preparing as if he wasn’t coming back is kind of a big shift, no?

Apparently, Willett agrees:

It’s so funny how all these media people construe the same quote different. Anyway, the ā€˜we are planning for it’ part is significant. JF did not mention that part.

Lol true. If he actually said ā€œplanning on itā€ that’s a big deal. If he just said ā€œhopefulā€ and left it at that, totally different.

Who is an example of a higher ceiling QB who would want to come play in a conference that can barely get into the CFP? I would think only a Miami or a Clemson, maybe FSU, would have that kind of juice.

Also I get the idea of higher ceiling, but there’s absolutely no one we can conceivably land that is a better fit from a culture/leadership standpoint. Not to even say what this would do as far as convincing guys like Trell and Edrine to come back and even guys like Monroe Mills. Would be massive news and ensure a high floor for next season assuming he can stay healthy (big if)

IF Chandler is back it’s probably the best possible outcome. I know we got excited about a bunch of maybes but another year in the offense and familiarity with receivers is big. Also think he could end up being a pretty damn good portal recruiter for RB, WR and OL.

Fixed it lol

Without Morris coming back… wouldn’t the transfer portal be harder?

With him coming back… I think a lot of transfers outside of QB1s would be super interested in coming into a known commodity QB

Yes, exactly what I said in my last sentence about him being a good portal recruiter.

Off topic, but is anyone else’s browser hanging up when you try to scroll past posts with tweets in them? It’s been happening to me that last couple of days.

Yeah embedded tweets make scrolling kinda jumpy
