Man I can’t possibly overstate the effect HGN has had on UVA fandom and moreover my own fan experience. I can’t count the number of times I’d get some stale news from a friend, only to have heard the same news and an update a week prior from HGN!
Watched it go from “hey UVA may get this Deandre Hunter kid” and people asking “who?” All the way to the era of fans tuning in to IG live streams to see what gear the recruit is wearing. All while getting the latest and greatest (I don’t think another person on the planet was saying Leon was choosing UVA over Marquette day of) from HGN without an ego, that’s very rare these days. Shout out to the absolute GOAT and great friend!!

Once Tony left, deep down we all knew this day would come. I miss the old days of tracking assist ratios of sophomore point guards that had a vague mention of UVA or an asst coach and the corresponding visit to grounds that had us begging for who their tour guide was and what that specifically meant for recruiting and the Virginia Basketball program as a whole. These days it just doesnt seem as critical as the almighty dollar has taken over. HGN, it has been a pleasure and I hope to buy you a cold one some day sir.

HGN, like it or not, you are the guy who made this site, and you were the absolute best at what you did for as long as you did it. Congratulations on retiring undefeated. Like every other member of this community, I miss you already.
