Isn’t this an upon death donation? If so that means they aren’t necessarily a billionaire.
Maybe I’ll give a donation like that. A trillion dollars after I die!
Can I have a suite at Scott and JPJ in the meantime?
Point was just people tend to give a way higher percentage of their net worth in those donations than they do when they are living. Someone worth only (lol) $100 million wouldn’t donate $40 million to one place while alive but might when they die. So I think the thought that it has to be a billionaire is misplaced if this is in fact from someone who recently passed.
Lol! Just put it in the will: “When the nice man from UVa comes to collect his money … run!”
None my bidness but…
This one was easy. The key word “philanthropist” was in the press release.
This is still a bit vague for me. Do we have a name for these clues?
Let me help you out.

Is Griffin Ball the long lost brother of LaMelo and Lonzo?
Ah okay I wasn’t sure what that animal was. Cheers. Thanks!

Damn, I should have become a hedge fund manager…

So did John die or does bequest not necessarily imply that in this context?
I don’t think so and it’s what someone was saying upthread that he just put it in his will for when he does die.
Or maybe it’s someone else entirely who did just die. But then the press release sounds a little rah-rah if someone just died.
This may be the right guess.
Anyone who drops ~80M on a house. Can give half that to charity.
Must be nice…
I wonder how a living “bequest” works in terms of real world value today – I assume the real value now is you can take a loan out against it? Or something else? Anyone know?
Bingo
