I think Izzo is tough on his players, but he’s fair and he has their backs. The players like him and know what they’re getting into when they sign there.
Consider this comparison, since Tony Bennett has been at Virginia, we’ve had 14 out transfers. Michigan State has had 7 over the same period.
I’m not expecting a mass exodus.

It’s being reported that Wojo was fired at Marquette. They have several young bigs that would be popular as transfers or deocmmits.

Lewis is the one to watch I suspect. Baltimore guy, fits what they want. And TB randomly saw him play against Daron Holmes last winter. Lewis bullied him a little, probably contributed to UVA backing off Holmes.
Jonas Aidoo would be great but I assume there were reasons they didn’t move on him originally. And assistants also visited Dawson Garcia. TB saw him play several times his last summer. Familiar with all of them.
Never offered Mitchell. I just think they’re probably too invested in '22 PGs at this point to go for him. Good player, just maybe not worth it.

Dawson would be the perfect big for both the 5out and continuous ball screen. Also would give Kadin more time to recover from this year and further develop.

My point about the money is, it plays a big part. When there isn’t much money involved or you can lose. You will have less things that can go wrong. This is a multi billion enterprise. Finding ways tu win is imperative. The NCAA just added a rule that will allow teams tu win more. Duke can pick good COLLEGE players as a missing piece and give them a better chance of winning. Why would Carson sit around at UVA. When he can go tu Wake Forrest and start IMMEDIATELY. There are way more reasons for Casey tu leave than stay. The first one being, playing immediately. I shared all this last yr when PEOPLE UP HERE shot it down. You will have guys talking midseason about transferring. You can tell Jabri, leave UVA, go tu UNC , start and win a chip IMMEDIATELY. Why deal with TB not playing you because of defense. People will cheat more because it will be easier tu do. This has alot tu do with money. So yes, money is important.

Oh yeah we have to assume people are working the back channels on our own players. It was probably happening even before the transfer fiasco rules

I mean unfortunately that appeal entices many, and works out for some (althought not sure if many). Some players just develop more with more time in the court to build rhythm. Ain’t nothing wrong with that.
I think there will be an initial surge these first 2-3 years and then things will settle thing. I predict 5 years from now the basketball transfer rate will remain below the non-athlete transfer rate.
It will be crazy this spring and next with Covid compounding the issue. But selfishly I also think it’ll be a positive for UVa overall.

I don’t know, I personally like the free agency that my career offers.
If I don’t get along with my supervisor/coworkers, get offered a higher paying gig / better hours, or find out what was shared in the interview was a sham and the place sucks, then I can move on without issue. Why shouldn’t these players get that opportunity?
How often do kids switch on the top AAU teams? Serious question.
