Transfer Portal Possibilities

Not a great shooter but if I remember correctly we kicked the tires on him before he went to Penn State

Couldn’t be worse than morsell…officially off the Morsell train, not a p5 player

Dont think I would go that far. I do think he would do better in a system that let him attack in transition better, and that isn’t mover blocker reliant to produce shots. A la marial shayok.

He’s not getting the 12 shots a game that he’s getting at ISU at Virginia.

D.J Burns is a blast from the past that appears really quick for a man his size. He’s already transferred once but you never know!

Burns looks like a guy who found the right level for him; good production but in limited minutes.

Don’t be deceived! The man can play! CTB has shown he can manage minutes for Bigs. With Shedrick, he’s not getting 30 minutes a game but they could also play together. He also offers a back to the basket game and physicality that we don’t have outside of Caffaro.

Which team his he on? I remember the name but don’t recall what happened to him?

He signed with Tennesse but transferred to Winthrop.

A name to maybe remember?

How about Jake Laravia. He’s a 6-9, 228-pound forward from Indiana State, which fired its coach today. He was second-team ALL-MVC this past season as a sophomore. He was primarily a wing in high school but has grown into a post player while keeping some perimeter skills. Oh, and did I mention that he went to Kyle Guy’s old high school.

He’s not in the portal yet but you have to think he’ll at least be interested in exploring other options. Purdue and Missouri were both showing interest in him as a spring recruit before he signed with Indiana State.

Anyway, I’m bored and looking at some rosters and he caught my eye.

This is one I’ve wondered about. No idea if UVA will be interested but he’d generally fit what they have in mind, given unproven against this level. Sr blew up this year, was dominant in the SoCon. 6’4 guard from Richmond.

Seems genuinely upset that his coach was let go. That’s not surprising.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are pretty unimpressed by this move by Indiana State. As for Laravia, he’s got some game. Porter Moser at Loyola called him one of the premier players in what’s a pretty good league.

And if he wants to leave, his options for staying home don’t look great. Purdue obviously has Furst and Kaufman coming in and Edey already there. I can’t see anyone going to Indiana right now with Archie’s situation. Notre Dame already has Atkinson transferring in, and Butler seems to be trending down as well.

Probably nothing comes of it but we might as well speculate until the games start again!

Is he related to Georgia Tech’s Parham?

I don’t know. Good idea though. Both from VMI. Bubba is listed with a GA hometown, so probably not brothers.

I imagine we’re going to be an easy sell for one or two quality players and can afford to be selective. Playing time aside, we can say our last two senior transfers Key - won a Natty and is having G League success, Hauaer - first team All ACC and teams leading scorer.

SoCon was a decent conference this season, around the MAC and CUSA if you look at the conference average on the advanced rating systems like Torvik: https://barttorvik.com/trank.php?year=2021&conyes=1#
