šŸ€ Transfer Portal Recruiting Thread

The last burger boy to commit to Virginia before Guy was Landesberg, before Bennett was hired. And the one before him was Mapp (to Gillen) and before him, Dersch (to Jones).

I meant for the recent transfers and higher ranked high school guys. We didn’t used to lose Jefferson to Iowa State. We got Mamadi and we’ll likely not get Mallory. It’s not a clear choice to pick UVA over other power conference non blue bloods anymore

We literally lost a recruiting battle to iowa st a year ago with momclivic. That school has even gotten some 5*s recently, weird times

More smoke just out. It looks like this is former bruin player Marques Johnson’s son Kris Johnson announced something confirming what BruinGold site was saying. I think this just about puts it to bed and that Perry is going to UCLA. Just google Those Four Letters Kris Johnson to find it.

That is very true! Our staff works hard to prevent such!

What does it say?

Perry was always going to be transfer risk unless he came to CVille and found a girlfriend or whatever.

If he goes lets get Acaden but NOT that KState guy

Perry not a dawg. Can’t be afraid of leaving the nest when you are that level of talent. Need to prioritize pro prospects - taking burger boy talent and potentially being outside the rotation at UCLA?

What do you when you get drafted by the raptors or the Mexico City expansion team?

Caveat: if Perry comes here he is a supreme dog (like a bedlington Terrior or something)

Good. This is good. We dodged Isaac Traudt. More pt for Eli! Recover well Bliss

I agree. If a dude from California knows he wants to be here, commits right away, that’s one thing. If a dude is taking half a month to decide if he wants us or to stay close to home, huge red flag. That guy is not with us in two years even if he commits.

Trying to figure out how good I think he is. Perry. Opinions?

It’s worse than that. He’d rather walk on to a crowded guard rotation.

If he comes here, I’d be shocked if he makes it to 2nd year.

Depends what he chooses

Ha. Good point

This might sound exceedingly stupid but Perry strikes me as a really good ā€œnormalā€ guard. Like he has good but not outstanding size. He is a really solid shooter but not the Kon/Sharma reputation. He can easily dunk but it isn’t RD like explosiveness. But he is the exact type of guy we’ve been missing - a competent guard who can handle and shoot the ball confidently but isn’t a total defensive liability. I’m not sure he ever becomes a college all American but he could have a straightforward path to being all ACC by being a 13/6/4 on 48/38/85 kind of numbers.

He would just be so nice because he isn’t one of the misfit toys kind of roster adds that have insanely obvious flaws (rohde’s athleticism and shooting; BVP’s athleticism; Dunn’s shooting; Dante being 5’7ā€)

Is that a lacrosse related tweet or a basketball related tweet?

Man this is what I think I see as well. But all his shots in ā€œhighlightsā€ are really high degree of difficulty IF they translate to college. He seems very very well drilled as he works with that trainer or whatever

Maybe lil shorter maybe slightly more athletic London type.

Definitely think he needs the right program and not the will fit anywhere type dude

If I’m being totally honest, if I were advising Perry, I’d steer him to SDSU.

Close to home, proven players coach, played for the national title a year ago, probably as much PT as he wants.
