šŸ€ Transfer Portal Recruiting Thread

Harsh but yes. In the portal world it’s a 1 year risk for potential high reward player.

He had a 98 composite ranking coming out of HS. And y’all are bitching about this pickup. Y’all are insane. This is a great pickup. Kudos to the staff for bringing in an awesome transfer class.
This allows us to bring along Bliss slowly and move Warley to the 3.
Great depth and experience all around the team now.

The 15-20 above yours are about 75% positive.

A reminder of those composite recruiting rankings …

Lotta talk here about changing the offense. I have no inside info, but I predict Tony is going to borrow a lot from the UConn playbook. Who wouldn’t? There are a lot more philosophical similarities between their system and ours than you would think – particularly the way it’s built on off-ball movement and reading and reacting. In a system like that, you need versatility, you need athleticism, and you need guards who can get downhill. You don’t need everyone to be a sniper. Only three UConn players shot better than 35% – and that group did not include Newton (32%) or Castle (26%).

Not saying that our players are as good as theirs, but I think they would fit well into that kind of offense.

Number 2 is a cool observation by you. One I wouldnt know how to articulate. Very cool

And here’s how 247 had Ames rated (their specific ratings, not the composite).

So he’s either a lottery pick in the making or a guy who will play 33 total minutes on the season. Got it.

If we’ve learned anything, players don’t improve.

The rusty tromb… never mind

Personally, I love this pick up. Ames picked up his play significantly toward the end of the season. He’s got that get to the rim downhill game we need to replace Reece. His shot looks good and his 3pt percentage was solid statistically in the 2nd half of the season. He also has that ā€œdawgā€ in his game that we need.

I like this pick up a lot. Very good handle and can take his man off the dribble. Looks like he also has a smooth outside shot. Nice pick up.

That is some serious fluctuation

I normally never comment because I trust, right or wrong, that people who decide these things are way smarter than me.

But, I will say, that almost every post reminds me of my wife when she says " Looks like rain a week from now, better change our plans!" My position is ā€œWhy don’t we just wait and see?ā€

Same with recruiting, no one knows crap, at least in our little circle of knowledge. For decades on the internet people have touted or dissed this player or that. They have no clue either way and hindsight has proven this a million times over…

Why don’t we just wait and see and if you end up on my team, I’ve got your back…

Very true…but then all we’d talk about on here is Arby’s… Actually…not a bad idea

I’m curious about this with Ames and Saunders…not really in a critical way, just curious. Power (playing time/Duke trying to turn over most of their team) and Warley (getting off a sinking ship) seem more straightforward to me.

Listen man, this isn’t complicated
He’s got a ā€œDai Daiā€ diamond necklace
He’s from Chicago
He’s a lefty

Dawg meter go up

Did a quick check on the K State board about Dai Dai’s transfer, and most of the discussion I saw (didn’t read the entire thread) was around KSU bringing in 4 guards in the portal, including Dug McDaniel.

Speculation was a combination of losing PT to the new guys, and NIL being bigger for the inbound transfers.

I will add…didn’t see anything about anyone wanting him gone. Just frustration over the portal and not being able to keep good/young players.
