Weāre due for guy to actually out perform his %s after transferring here vs go the other way ā¦
Groves!!. And Hauser. And Murphy I think
Def 3s for Groves but what about FTs, I just remember all the bricks from CoSt game
HGN calls Warley a PG in a tweet.
Kenpom has him mostly as the FSU SF with some PG and some SG. Of course kenpomās designations are algorithmic and may not reflect reality.
He has SF size, PG assist numbers (20% ARate), and C 3 point shooting (1-7 last year.)
Not sure what to make of him. I think Iād rather just run out who weāve got if we donāt get Perry. Iāll pass on Warley.
Iāll say it again, Ben Simmons.
Warley can play on or off the ball. Thatās the draw. They want a veteran guard who can play the point but also play alongside Bliss/maybe Perry. Same as with Mahaney.
Took the words out of my mouth. I literally tabbed over to type āWe are going to find out how Ben Simmons would have looked under Tonyā lol.
If his man is sagging, DHO with Mckneely. McKneely should be wide open if Warley sets the good screen and his own man is sagging to far behind to switch onto McKneely. Danny Green Seth Curry got a lot of open 3s in Philly on that kind of action.
Simmons would have been a hell of a blocker in our offense.
I guess Iām sold. An upgrade from and more versatile than Harris. Re Perry, FWIW (possibly nothing) Iām hearing from guys trolling UCLA boards that folks out there think itās us. No idea if thatās overstating it.
The guy who gradually became unplayable - not just due to injuries - and was largely useless in the playoffs and crunch time because of his massive limitations? Hooray?
The fact we are recruiting Jalen Warley and Aiden Mahaney for the same theoretical slot is just mind blowing stuff.
This almost feels like the first month of the pandemic the way this portal season has dragged on.
Right I think heās a better version of Harris. 7" taller, better at getting to the rim and the line, better FT shooter, better passer, much less of a chucker. Thereās 4 open spots and as long as the plan is not for him to start I think this makes sense. If he hasnāt graduated yet I donāt see how he gets in though.
I realize not how it works out, but if you imagine bifurcating Harrisās role between Warley and Perry, it seems pretty good.
We keep getting guards and swingman that can not shoot, i know this staff like defense but he do not space the floor.I guess we learn nothing from the past 3 years. I watch him play at Florida st, teams going to continue to layoff of him and pack the line but heās better then Harris
I think Warley is going to be expecting better than the Harris role. Heād be a lot more versatile on defense and fill in some of the Dunn/bond role too
Iād imagine that wonāt be an issue based on getting him to visit. FSU is a decent school, as long as he has a major that we carry and isnāt doing sports management or something random
A couple random Warley thoughts, assuming Perry eventually picks us:
- Vet PG/CG/ point forward could work well with 2 young PG/CGs but balancing minutes will create headaches for Tony (and better stated, me)
- Warley fits a profile of a guy who Tony may love and will play 25-30mpg when in my mindās eye, I had pictured a vet PG at ~15-20 to smooth the road for the young guys. Might
- But heās also gone after one year
- Heās from Philly, went to Westtown, which was Blissās league.
- Replaces some of the length/athleticism that we just lost with Bond/Reece/RD
- I need to watch some tape to reacquaint myself with his offense, beyond the obvious unwillingness to shoot (or Hamās unwillingness to let him)
- Ultimately this just highlights the issue we are gonna have anyway: can Tony better bring in guys who do what heād like to do offensively, and if not, can Tony adapt to the talent on hand? Or could he at least try? Or at least let the thought cross his mind? Because if not, I suspect I will type some things will be unpopularā¦
Isnt there a requirement to spend at least 2 years at uva?
Requirement to graduate (60 credits) not matriculate
What is it that Tony likes offensively?
