He was kicked out of ODU for conduct unbecoming a Monarch. Makes one wonder what conduct would be unbecoming of a Horned Frog.

I just found out that horned frogs ward off predators by shooting blood from their eyeballs. Okay then… I think that’s my cue to go back to work.

I thought that when Keatts was hired…

You answered your own questions. If he doesn’t spray blood (ideally from his eyes, but threy’re flexible) at opponents, he’s gone.

Edit - Related to that, I understand his conduct unbecoming a Monarch was pretty bad. Got into a land war in Asia. Had to let him go after that embarrassment.

I fall into this trap every year, but I REALLY like the composition of the 2024-25 squad. Dai Dai and Warley driving, dishing, scoring, iMac and Power shooting, Buke scoring on the inside and from midrange. Saunders, Bliss, and Cofie off the bench. That’s your Tony Bennett tight eight-man rotation. And it could be good defensively: Ames an on-ball scrapper, Warley a long-limbed stopper, Saunders athletic in the post, and the others improving with experience.

I suspect the ā€œchanges on offenseā€ equate to the general pursuit of early offense before pulling back to run sides / CBS / triangle.

I wonder about the high hedge. Buchanan has the mobility, but it takes so much coordination and takes him away from doing other things that matter.

I want to see more scripted iso and pick-and-roll / pick-and-pop action.

Saunders can shoot, too. So 5-out is possible.

I’ll miss seeing Gertrude take the next step and grab some PT as the third attacking guard/wing, but him being out kind of helps settle the rotation.

Bliss is the major x-factor in everything. If he’s good…

So we have a McDonalds All American walking on at UCLA and a top portal pg redshirting at Gonzaga. Lets do some shit like this.

#4man2025class.

Think red shirting is going to make a come back with fringe pro prospects. That fifth year can become a real money maker

Players could even decide to redshirt in year 2 or 3 now. Based on roster openings vs physical development

So now we’re in favor of redshirting?

Oh im all about redshirting kids who are projects or need to get their conditioning right

Especially if the predicted fall-off in NIL spending fall-off is wrong and spending actually climbs.

I’m reminded of why CEO compensation has climbed so much faster than basically anything else over the last 30 years or so. Ages ago, activists thought CEOs were paid too much relative to regular working stiffs. So they rabble-roused and somehow got the SEC to change its rules and require that the compensation of all CEOs be made public. The assumption was shareholders would see how much money they were making, be outraged/embarrassed and push boards to reduce their compensation. Instead, shareholders didn’t care, but now all the CEOs now knew how much everyone else was making. These guys are hugely competitive, and it set off a cascading series of CEO compensation one-up-manship that continues to this day. CEO compensation spiked the day that rule went through and has climbed super fast ever since.

Anyway, if NIL, especially over the next couple years, climbs really fast for whatever reason (15%/year, lets say) and you’re a useful college player but don’t expect to have a great pro career, redshirting could end up being a substantial boost to your career NIL earnings.

Another thing that has gone way up is college basketball and football coaches salaries

Not sure that’s right after looking him up…he should have a year left anyway. I guess players can enter the portal late if they were granted an extra year later? in his case, a medical redshirt.

That’s crazy

Then again, no medical redshirt. Makes no sense.

Let’s get Kihei back from the Herd for a 6th and 7th year of eligibility to bridge us to our next undersized point guard

Ha. Thats dope

We’ve had transfer portal. But what about second transfer portal? How many walkons are we allowed?

Ed Cooley is not at all who I would hire if Hurley leaves. They have two assistants, Kimani Young and Luke Murray, who are probably higher upside hires and know the program and the players better anyway if their main concern is going to be retention
