Transfer tracking

That’s the one.

Mikeysurf had a post on 247 recently regarding the medical staff advising they take it slow with his foot recovery

So, who will leave possibly leave Alabama?

Been a pretty hilarious past 50 or so posts of arguments with a random HGN knowledge drop sprinkled in

HGN walking back into the thread like

Edit - Darn it, it broke. This’ll do.

Edit2 - Broke again. Argh.

Little early in the off-season for message board chatter to devolve into complete tire-spinning and/or cannibalism. Really feeling the effects of that first-round exit.

We’re overachieving.

It’d be easiest if the person (people) who have claimed to have read/heard such comments cite where they heard that. The person asserting something should provide evidence or else anyone believing it is just going on blind faith. I’ve never seen a source and can’t find any such interview or podcast.

The redshirt narrative doesn’t make sense to me (barring injury). Who expects a top 40 recruit to stay for 5 years? And if they do, wouldn’t that career fall short of expectations? If JAR has the career path of Hall, most people would say he underperformed.

In general, I agree with your final point. However, its worth remembering that 247 ranked Hall as the #62 HS player in his class (though the composite had him worse) and he did end up getting drafted. Definitely wasn’t a smooth road getting there, though.

My point is that with Hall, whether or not he was disappointing really depends on what you’re evaluating. 247 Composite had him as the #122 HS player in his class, yet his senior year he was 2nd team all-ACC and was a 2nd round pick. That hardly seems disappointing. Alternatively, Hall was 4-star player who never really became a star, didn’t become a reliable rotation member until his junior year and was pretty bad before that. That result could be argued as a disappointment.

JAR is higher ranked than Hall, but 247 and 247 composite both have him around #40 in his class so he’s not THAT much higher, and a player with that ranking getting drafted in the 2nd round would hardly count as a disappointment.

Gotta assume no news is good news at this point, as it relates to JAR. Would imagine that if we don’t hear anything early this week, we should be in the clear. If he clearly wanted out, it would’ve happened by now. I imagine he’s spent time with his family talking through his options and the pros/cons of each. Maybe that process is still going on and he ultimately makes the decision to leave but it’s probably gotta happen fairly quickly.

A lot has been said on this thread but at the end of the day, he’s pretty much in the exact same spot as Dre was in after his RS year. I don’t believe JAR expected to RS but neither did Dre, yet it worked out well. Hopefully JAR realizes he could be a big piece of the team next year and sticks it out, because I think we’re really going to need him.

I would focus instead on who TB prioritized in recruiting. Those are supposed to be future stars/backbones of the program. Morsell was his number one target in his class. To transfer two years later is a big miss and huge disappointment. Reece and JAR were targets 1 and 1A. If JAR transfers, also big miss.

Not sure I agree Abdur-Rahim is a miss if he leaves. If it’s true he was told he would baby step through his first year, I see it more of a not letting the process play out than a miss.

Very true! Maybe things would have turned out differently for Casey if Kyle Guy stays and we were able to red-shirt or bring Casey along at a more deliberate pace.

Lance Blanks 2.0 is my prediction . . .

“Maybe this increases the likelihood we get Keels” I say as I slam my head against the wall repeatedly

Ah the sweet feeling of being vindicated…

Edit: this is bad for the program. Anyone that tries to rationalize that it isn’t needs to wake up.

Agreed. They can’t keep redshirting highly ranked freshman. I think those days are over.
