Well it’s clearly not going to be Maryland (unless it is idk anymore). They do have the connection to his coach in NZ and other connections

My theory is that Taine was about to commit to Stanford that weekend HGN said staff were expecting a commitment, but Tony put the full court press which made him strongly reconsider (kind of like how Ben Gregg hesitated/processed the UVA intervention). My guess is 60/40 Stanford to Hoos. Don’t think Maryland is a factor, even if his coach is good friends with an assistant there.

Agree with HGN that I’m leaning Stanford just due to timing. It will be 11p PST (2a EST) when he announces. Hopefully it’s just a convenience thing for him.
That being said, I could also see a case for Maryland outside of just the relationships. Whatever you want to say about Turgeon, he does let guys play early.

Both 247 Duke mods now have CB in for Keels. Seem redundant but whatever. In part they say:
for what it’s worth. I continue to hear Duke’s in a good position with Keels, and they’ve laser focused their efforts on him as their backcourt addition in 2021.

Big question is how are Villanova fans reacting to this? haha I somewhat envy the people who cover their recruiting. It’s like reverse from the UVA mentality. The willingness to tune out anything slightly negative is amazing.

Both crystal balls are 6 confidence. Less than certain, just hearing they are in a good position. Who isn’t hearing that. He could very well end up at Duke but I don’t think the info they are basing their picks on are that. (also both are 70% accuracy lol)

It’s no shock they made the selection for Duke. I think they only flipped their choice on Christie the day of or before he committed.
Going back and thinking, those guys think any kid that Duke watches is heading to Durham. I take their choices with a grain of salt. The only guy associated with Duke at one time my radar shot up is Slater. Matter of fact, he is the only guy associated with 247 I use to pay much attention. Generally everyone else followed his lead.

Just saw Oakes’ update on Murray. He seems to be hearing UVa/Stanford, the Maryland people think UVa/Maryland. May not mean a thing but the one constant is Virginia.

Funny that this came out, when an interview with Patrick Baldwin Jr came out today that is less than glowing for Duke and their fans are freaking out now lol
figure I could post it since we did make his top ten. No mention of UVA however. UNC is the “sleeper” (lol)
