The double-down on Didawick and Hanson. Doing the same thing over and again and hoping for different results.
Yeah I don’t get it.
One stat to tell you how the season is going:
The 4-5-6 hitters on the season (4-5-6 in every game) have more LOB (80) than H (68).
1-2-3 hitters are 84 hits and 45 left on, and 7-8-9 are 65 hits and 47 left on.
LU has already beaten N.C. State, Duke, and Wake on the road in their non-Con. They played Clemson tight in Game 1 on the road, lost the second not so close. Hoos are in for another tough one.
Not that this really matters, because we’ve been getting beat by just about everyone–and everyone game has been tough.
Hodges gave up two runs in the bottom half of the 1st, but Ference just tied things up with a blast to RCF.
2-2 game top of the 2nd.
3-2 Liberty after 4. Buchanan just worked us out of a bases loaded jam.
4-2 Liberty after 5.
Hoos have launched a full fleet of choppers today
4-2 Liberty, bottom 7
Shocking, really, that we use a shitty, non-productive lineup and get shitty production, against a mid-major midweek starter and bullpen.
5-2 Liberty after 7.
LU lead off triple who then scored on a sac fly (of the diving Henry Ford to save another triple variety).
5-3 Liberty in the top of the 9th, Arroyo with a one out RBI double to drive home Becker.
Tying run coming to the plate for us in Henry Ford.
Ford rips a liner but it’s right at the LFer. Teel now in an 0-2 count.
Teel on the next pitch lines out to RF. Got really bad luck with our balls hit in play that frame but far too little, too late.
5-3 Liberty wins.
Same old story
I mean it’s the definition of insanity. Play the same ol lineup and expect things to be different, well guess what it wasn’t.
Middle of the order strikes again.
Arroyo on second, one out. And Ford and Teel, both representing the tying run, strand him.
Second five-game losing streak in Oak’s illustrious career.
It’s time for a shakeup in the lineup.
Bench all the upperclassmen, play the young guys. Give Harris and James and Nunnallee and Sirois and Buchanan the reps they need for next year.
It’s tough because both of those balls were scorched, Ford’s especially. But again you can’t wait until the fuckin 9th inning to finally start barreling pitches up.
We hit so many weak grounders and choppers today against Liberty’s midweek staff.
