The issue is that I dont think our defense is where it needs to be. Hence Tony looking super pissed. Lots of slow rotations, ball out rotating D, etc. Tarleton just didnāt punish it. No idea if Florida will show as much mercy there. Do like how much we are better defending independently in isolation: Reece Dante Dunn Bond even Buchanan and Rohde. But the rotations and packline stuff is far from there
But man I AM SO HAPPY. SO much potential. Playing time for young high ceiling guys (Gertrude RS be damned). Leon Bond is my savior.

Agreed - it was a very promising first game. Bond was amazing. Reece was better. Isaac shot the lights out. Everyone else was at least solid except for Minor, who looked a bit lost. The Gertrude news is a big downer, though, and frankly it looked tonight like we could use another guard. But all in all, game 1 was a highly positive first step of the season.

yeah we are landing top 100 kids again. Like 80% sure Gertrude wont transfer (here I go wasting energy lol/Gertrude was a recent blow up when he committed/still a humble 3 star mentality and his interviews scream that/he doesnāt havea girlfriend halfway across the country that he thinks is the one/hes more Leon Bond). Never say never but im not worried about it. Bliss Gertrude Cofie Robinson is still a nasty core (and give me Jemison) but I do feel for him to be so far removed from the game time wise.
Basically the same people saying Gertrude transfer cause traudt are the ones who were saying Dante 40 minutes a game starting over Rohde cause Kihei. They are trauma blind
But w/e life moves on.

Get a hold of yourself. Heās not missing playing this year. Heās missing playing in games. Plenty of guys 16-22 have effectively missed playing in games (ie been glued to the bench) 2 consecutive years and been just fine on the other side. Your sky is falling post would only make sense if he suffered another bad injury.

Nah man I follow plenty of skilled sports. Outside of football (where itās almost all athleticism and a tiny bit of skill) missing two straight years in the 16-22 range is a huge huge huge deal. Yāall can try to make yourselves feel better if you want but this is very bad news for Elijahās career.

To be clear Iām not saying Elijah canāt still be a good college player or even still make the NBA. But the true high end Dre type of upside isnāt there anymore. Just canāt make up for missing two straight years of games in this crucial developmental window

Iāve come around to Gertrude redshirting.
I personally wouldnāt. But Iām okay with it now.
Am I okay with it because we looked promising tonight? Yes.
Will I be not okay with it again if he transfers? Yes.
But who cares right now because we have a new, young, fun team this year. And one I think will be damn good.
