šŸˆ UVa Football Preseason 24

I read one or two unit previews, a bunch of posts here, and looked at the schedule with my late 90s bias (Wake stinks, MD is just okay, Richmond and Coastal Carolina have football teams? Aw, that’s cute), and I’m ready to weigh in.

5 wins - mostly front loaded. Will lose at VPI but it will be painful bc it’s close, not painful bc we weren’t competitive.

Good enough to give Elliott another year or two, not good enough to change opinions that much.

Starting QB??? Final day of camp was today so I’d imagine they gotta pick the starter to get reps with first group. Splitting 1st team reps all prep week isn’t smart…… Who y’all thinking?

I think it will be a platoon.

Muskett and I doubt we get an actual ā€˜announcement’. Make UR game plan for both.

Please, if anyone is listening, don’t let us go 2 qb’s a la Phillip Sims and Rocco season

I think we all know it’s going to be Muskett and he’ll play like 1.5 games before he’s broken in half when being simultaneously sacked by 3 guys. Then Colandrea is leading us to the promised land. It’s last year but like… better?

Tony Elliott knows that 2025 is his make or break season. Does he want to play 2025 with a Junior year experienced Collandrea or break in a new starting QB in Collandrea so that he’s a 5th year senior in 2027 when Elliott might be gone if he doesn’t win in 2025?

Awful idea…. Never lets a qb get settled. I think he’s just making UR plan for both which makes it hard. I’d imagine it’s Tony but I want AC.

Should ride with Collandrea my opinion. And if you are worried about Richmond knowing hoo you riding with, well, I dont know what to think

I think tech will be good, not great. But their schedule is a cake walk. Should get 10 wins

You should find a an alt 9.5 win total and bet that then

Dear Lord I hope neither of these guys are even a fraction of the trainwreck that Sims was.

What, you don’t want your starting QB to be a chainsmoker?

Sims did have a hell of an arm, but his decision making and pocket awareness were HS level.

Agree with the game planning part but I think Muskett wins the job.

Haha. We’ll see… if the OL hasn’t or even has only marginally improved it should be AC. If they are actually better this year, I think they ride Muskett. I didn’t think he was as bad as most seem to.

@JBHoo ,Yea if the line holds up we are probably better off with Musket.I hope I’m wrong but we are probably going to need Fran Tarketon
Edit: i may have drunk too much but i had to throw Fran’s name out. Who remembers?

Fran was unforgettable, a running quarterback before that was really a thing.

Minnesota Viking. Can still see him in 1 play running all over the backfield dodging defenders in a NFL films highlight. I think one DL missed him 3 times.

I need to go back and look at some tape, but I’m pretty sure there is precedent for CTE platooning a QB. Clemson did that several times going back to the Trevor Lawrence days before eventually settling on a starter. If that is the plan of attack, the Richmond game presents a good opportunity to get both QB’s time and hopefully one of them grabs the reigns and steps into the starting role.
