Yes. Other than those years he was a Kansas City Chief, Joe Montana was in fact, always a 49er.
Your point seems wildly pedantic and literal
Except when he played in college

Played quite a bit for us this year, production was hit or miss in the secondary. Wouldāve been in the conversation for PT again next season but wouldnāt say he was a guaranteed starter.
Harder to manage roster in the new transfer era:
- Basketball
- Football
Neither compares to baseball roster management.

6ā4, 205 lbs. and a former 3 star recruit. Started as a box Safety last year for Akron where he made 47 tackles and had 3 pass deflections. Likely gonna be a LB for us alongside Robinson, basically replaces the role Lex Long wouldāve played.
The portal taketh and it giveth
Honestly hasnāt ātakethā nearly as much as I expected. All replaceable players so far Iām actually pretty impressed (and crossing fingers it stays that way).
Tells me that, despite some big questions these last 2 years, CTE & staff have the locker room, and thatās huge. Weāve got some solid, young foundation pieces, and Iām willing to be patient and see if they can get this turned around.
So far, I havenāt seen the exodus I expected. We have a few young guys that I feel certain are getting approached by other programs but they havenāt taken the bait except for Lex Long. This is potentially some very good news.
Iām with @Galileo24 and @GulfCoastHoo
Say what you want about the staff but they are selling something that the kids are buying into and thatās a massive win for a struggling program.
So far Iām happy with the off season.
Letās face it, TE absolutely has to win the locker room right now. He has to show that the kids heās bringing in are buying into him. Otherwise, thereās no reason to have hope in the program.
You minimize your losses to the portal and end up with a net positive portal this off season (wonāt be able to reliably calculate that until end of next season), and show improvement in recruiting this cycle. Thatās what we have to hope for.
The prior season was a mix of highs and lows. There were games where the team was competitive beyond expectations, and games where they sank below even highly pessimistic expectations (see VPI game for worst example). Some consistency is what we need next season, consistency in meeting or exceeding reasonable expectations for play. I donāt know if thatās 5 - 7, 6 - 6 or exactly how it translates, but I think the goals in the paragraph above and showing solid competitiveness in every game during the season is the difference between sinking of swimming for TE.
Yeah there was a lot of stink last year. Going to take quite a bit for that to wash off. Iām a āso far better than the alternativeā take on the offseason. But not really heaping praise for this staff.
Glass half empty is that Iām not sure many of our players were in demand? The line on both sides of the ball was dreadful and pretty much all veterans returning - whereās the upside?
Iāll give you Kam Robinson and AC as young sparks. Good to retain them. Good replacement of Malik with Tyree. But not seeing enough influx of talent/depth to see any sort of leap yet.
In a buy/sell/hold scenario, Iām holding.
Tough team to figure out. Felt like we were actually close to qualifying for a bowl. But also felt like we got steamrolled at times. Weāre definitely a program thatās learning how to win.
I am pleasantly surprised by whoās gone in the portal so far. Had heard early it could get ugly. That has not been the case. Credit to the staff and Cav Futures on that front.
Iām not gonna say Iām optimistic but I can see reasons for optimism if that makes any sense at all.
Tight End securedā¦

I think the most promising sign here is the staff seems to be getting the commitments of all the āplan Aā guys.
Thatās a big one. He had a lot of interest.
Nice step-up in academics, too.
Looking like Caffaro
