Dan Gavitt live on CBS right now just said no at large team has informed them of pulling out ahead of the 11pm deadline. Fingers crossed
This is new news to me

Yep. If weāre still in come Tuesday all good unless more positives
Ugh. This is making it harder for me to really appreciate the other conference tournaments.
We should still get our bid and seed regardless. We earned them! I donāt care what they do if we canāt play (forfeit, reshuffle), but they should still give us our due.
So at what point should we expect a tweet, statement, or something of the sorts? Is no news good news?
Yes
Letās go. I am ready to ride with who we have
For sure. Earned that spot and ready to see whoever is available out there
Iām assuming those within the program know by now what the deal is. One of you guys with inside connections need to start working the phones to get us some info! Haha
Until then, have to assume no news is good news.
I just read a Jerry Ratcliffe that UVA and Kansas are still being counted as in unless another test comes positive. They have to make it to Tuesday and if they can state that their players are healthy they are in. They have to pass daily tests in order to do that. I donāt know how much power Albemare County may have though
Wait, something just occurred to me. Why would it be Albemarle County with the control? Thatās where JPJ is, but UVA itself is in Charlottesville. Or is there something about Albemarle County being the one who sets the rules for some arcane reason?
I will say that anyone on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors or the Charlottesville City Council who votes to block the UVA Mens Basketball Team from going to the NCAA tournament is literally asking to get voted out as soon as possible.
Some possibilities:
- The information is incorrect and it has nothing to do with Albemarle Co.
- The Blue Ridge Health District of the VDH covers Albermarle, Nelson, Greene, Fluvanna, and Louisa Counties as well as Charlottesville.
- Charlottesville Airport is in Albemarle County.
It seems to me that the team has been operating under the local guidelines all season for contact tracing and isnāt going to relax them now.
Itās the Charlottesville/Albemarle Health Department. It covers both jurisdictions.
Honestly, it doesnāt make sense for ālocalā regulations to play a part in this decision. The team could choose to āquarantineā in a multitude of locations-in this scenario it should be the guidelines of the ncaa and where the tourney is being held.
Did we forfeit the game? Please tell me we donāt take an L.
