You have to include likely the 2nd best ACC team seed wise in the tournament. Covid can’t stop you from picking good teams unless they cancel.
Think the plan was always to have standby teams ready to go. Never should have only left one week between conference tournament and NCAAs.

The hope is we get those. UVA medical is really good but we are gonna have to hope.
Who knows what the NCAA will do. But if we’re not officially ruled out by the time the committee makes its selection, they have to choose us, don’t they? Are they going to keep us out of the bracket because we PROBABLY can’t play?

Yeah, I’d be extremely surprised if we don’t get to go and play. My bet is that UVA gets selected as a 4-seed now, and I’d be shocked if we don’t have 5 players who can pass the screening. We might have a depleted roster and in danger of an early exit, though.

Yes this is important. Tournament, other than play in games, starts a day later than normal. All depends on how many positive tests today and what subsequent testing reveals.

Yeah, they won’t. Plus, we probably can field a team and play. Depending on the specifics it might (or might not) be a pretty depleted roster, but it’ll probably be a couple days before we know the specifics.
This was so foreseeable for the NCAA and they ignored it. Their Covid response to me has been the strongest argument for the NCAAs dissolution

It could happen, of course, but there have been close to 150 games played this week, and this is only the fourth one that has been cancelled. And we are the only NCAAT team that has been affected. COVID cancellations have dropped precipitously in the last 10 days to two weeks. Unless there is a sudden, dramatic turn back in the other direction, the Tournament will go on, and this will just be a minor bump in the road to everybody but us.
NCAA should push back another week cause there will sadly be more

If it’s an actual player who is positive, it seems extremely unlikely other players don’t have it / won’t get it. They’ve been playing together for days and locker rooms and staying together. We’d be done in that instance. If it’s a manager or staff or something… maybe a chance. But this is bad.

That’s going to be the most interesting part, you know this doesn’t end with the ACC teams, some other big teams are going to get bit by this and time is running out to protect them.

I mean, it might or it might not. No other tourney team has had this happen yet and cancellations are trending downward. We, in typical UVA fashion, could just be the only one screwed over and another sports trivia answer. Will have to see.
