I think we may have found something last night with Harris and the pocket pass. Also, his penetration gets others open on the perimeter like no one else on the team. I would put most of his minutes in a lineup with iMac (easy 3s), Groves (easy 3s), Minor (picks, dumpoffs and oops), Beeks (all of the above).

Rohde did this three times against Wake. It’s more of a Minor thing than Harris thing

Curious about your LRA handle @zh00s? Are you a Z? I know you can’t answer that but I’m intrigued. Going to do a deep forensic/CSI investigation on this one because I was an IMP and I can say it in public. Just wondering…

Mitch Henderson from Princeton after Tony retires. Discuss.

Completely forgot Amir Abdur Rahim ended up at South Florida. Thought he was destined for a bigger job. But doing really well in his first year at South Florida.

If Tony were to suddenly retire, those are two (Henderson) I would give a hard look at. Also would consider English Otzleberger Odom Ritchie and Kyle Smith (Washington St fans would HATE us LOL). Still do think if it’s a sudden retirement you give Williford a 1 year interm coach contract (1 year $4 million) and then you spend the entire year doing an extensive coaching search/back channeling.

And oh you don’t let Carla Williams anywhere near the process LOL. Wally Walker leads the search/does Williford’s evaluation during the year.

Would throw Grant McCasland on that list as well, though it would probably be hard to lure him away from the state of Texas.

Defensive tradition. Good call. I was impressed by his team when we played them in the NIT.

I have a partial explanation for us getting routed in road games. This isn’t just this year but is more pronounced due to the talent game between our starters and the rest this season.

So here’s how it goes …

Our starting 5 starts especially slow in road games. SO SLOW and tight and tentative. So we get down 5-10 points in the first 5 minutes. Then we start clicking a bit and hit a few shots by the 12-13 minute mark. But we are still down a bit.

At that point our back up guys come in. And there’s a HUGE gap between our top 6-7 and the rest. Any momentum we had goes out the window. Other team scores at will. We start to spiral and lose all confidence.

By the time our core is back in, we are down by 15-17 and confidence is at 0.

This seems to be how all of our blow out losses have gone. Again, we’ve had this issue other recent years but our inability to compose ourselves mentally this year stands out.

Of course tonight is an example where we bucked the trend. But you could kind of see it the first 10-12 mins of the game.

Perhaps they broke the seal tonight and all is well now

The hope is that when Isaac McKneely thinks of himself, instead of thinking ā€œHey Im Isaac McKneelyā€, he’s now thinking ā€œIM THAT GUY. IM HIM. I catch the ball cleanly anywhere on the court, Im shooting that shitā€

Also, for those who don’t get the Dunn draft hype.

He’s currently averaging 10 points, 7 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per game while shooting 56% from the field. Crazy numbers

But have you actually watched him play?

Agree with Fresh here. I love RD etc. But him as a lottery pick is one of the major flaws of the NBa system that drafts on potential rather than proven talent.

In the first half yesterday when the Hoos were down GT was essentially in a zone with RDs man playing center field in the paint a good 8 feet off him. If Imac & Reece aren’t hitting he’s goes from non factor to liability.

The energy RD brings can’t be denied. He hustles and scraps and it’s great. He also leaves his feet a ton hunting blocks and could easily find himself in foul trouble at the next level facing crafty bucket getters.

The FT issue is a major one. He’s airballed a few FTs this year and when he stepped to the line for 2 late in the game last night you could see hesitation and fear in his eyes. And it increased after the first miss he wanted no part of that 2nd FT.

Not trying to tear the kid just being realistic. I think all of these issues can be fixed with time and training. But it could just as easily lead to getting lost in the NBA shuffle.

I think RD will be a pretty polarizing draft pick but NBA teams may think he can develop more in the NBA than in college which…may be true if in the right situation. If he’s mid teens/early 20s, teams often draft high ceiling and high risk…
