We get 2 picks in the draft and it should be a big boost in our recruiting. Reece should be in the 2nd round. Reading the mock drafts from December Dunn was picked at 10th in one mock,12th in another and 22nd in another. One guy described him as the best wing defender in many years. I just donāt know how much his shooting hurts him and i believe itās all in his head. He makes 3s easily when he donāt have time to think. When he does have time he airballs a free throw. Heās probably going regardless but i hope he can hit some foul shots before he leaves. Reed Sheppard is picked to go 6th. Think about that
I was thinking about that too. His long twos give me aneurysms but it seems like he helps enough with defense and rebounding that he should be playing more
Oh I was joking. Leon shouldnāt play more unless he takes open 3s at his height. Going big seems to be the answer as opposed to going small. And at the 3 spot he needs to be a 3pt threat next to Reece and one of Dante/Rohde.
Different positions. We need two facilitators/playmakers. Two of Reece, Dante, Rohde at all times.
He gets to have those positive advanced metrics because of the situations he plays in alongside Reece and Rohde. Those metrics donāt mean the metrics will stay the same when he gets more minutes or plays in place of someone else; metrics dont show potential they show the current situation. Which means metrics would argue Bond is really impactful in his current situation as it is.
There groups within our current rotation
Lead guard/faciliators: Reece Rohde Dante (need two of these on the floor at all times)
Scoring guard/Wing options: McKneely Dunn Bond Groves Taine (two of these at the 3-4 spots)
Centers: Minor Buchanan (one at a time/dont think we are breaking out the jumbo lineup this year)
Things to watch: Can McKneely get comfortable with his handle where he plays as that secondary lead guard more often? Does Gertrude get any run with strong practice showings which positional group does he get his minutes at? Do we continue trying out Bond at the 3 paired with Groves at the 4 some?
Did bond shoot 3ās often in high school? If memory serves he took a decent number of them.
Just so weird he doesnāt even pretend to be a threat from there. Two attempt all year I believe and one was at the end of the shot clock.
What do yāall make of him at this point in his freshman year? HGN said in a preseason report that he was likely a āyear awayā. Heās flashed in the non con and have felt his defense in his ACC minutes has been really good. But I do have concerns about his long term role here.
Still holding out a lot of hope for him being a very good player for us. Personality wise heās my favorite player on the team
I think @HoozGotNext summed it up perfectly last year (I forget the conversation context).
Fans think about the ceiling. Coaches think about the floor. @Hooandtrue thinks about what mid major kids we can poach and what fan basesā hearts we can break in the spring with stealing their best players
His mid range is money. And he spent the year working on his shot. I just think itās confidence. Heāll be chucking next year hopefully. If we get up big on an opponent this year I hope Tony gives him the green light when heās in.
This is essentially what Iām arguing for. When Dunn is out I want Reece IMac Bond Groves Minor/Blake. Maybe someone will bring in the premium EvanMiya subscription and inform me that that lineup is actually terrible but I think this is how you might have a lineup where you can kinda just let Reece cook with real shooters on the floor and still have the defense hold up. But maybe Reece canāt handle the creation load of that lineup, idk.
