That didn’t look like a staple double to me (that’s a double in the post). That was more help defender on drives. Young couldn’t scheme it right
Yeah, very good coaching move. I don’t want to minimize Papi. He bothered Aluma just enough
True it wasn’t the normal rotation. But he forced a a ton nof tough looks. And no one has stopped Aluma to this point so not gonna kill Papi. Plus Kadon was getting worked and providing little in the other areas
Their guards never got going either. Solid effort on them, too.
This is nonsensical nonsense.
Yes I get called to give presentations out of the blue basically constantly and I rock those presentations 110% of the time because winning is what I do. The first time it happened to me I gave my best presentation of my career. I simply conjured the perfect PowerPoint. Basically, I play for Duke.
What might warm my heart most is that this is probably Mike Young’s best team until he gets canned
Worst take of the season. papi has some limitations but he has shown on multiple occasions that he can be a difference maker.
Their guards were non factors basically
Great game by Beeks and Kihei but not surprised. That was the scouting report on their backcourt. Can’t handle pressure
Good to see Dre back on the court
The worst take? Surely there must be takes worse than that?
Papi done a good job on Alumna when they were in the post. He scored a few times but he also made Aluma take some bad shots too and that made the difference in a 2 point game. That and his offensive explosion ,lol
Hold my beer
To each his own, but there’s a reason so many on this board have talked about needing a transfer 5 next year. To his credit, he had a monster game tonight.
I get that we play ugly games and we’re not the most talented team. But, boy, do these guys play hard. And they keep getting better – individually, and as a team. We’ve won three of our last four, and we’re a game out of first. All things considered, that’s not bad. Just need to keep pounding away. It will be a grind, but we’ve been through grinds before.
This radio interview with Papi was hilarious.
He did a great job. To an extent, UVA played to make Aluma beat them for most of the game. They kept hard hedging off of him to prevent those open threes off the ball screen. It put Papi and Shedrick at a disadvantage of often having to recover as Aluma was catching the ball.
And yeah Aluma scored 22 but he took 20 shots and committed 3 turnovers. 0.92 points per possession that ended in his hands. They did a hell of a job.
Beekman quietly had another really nice night. He’s really turned a corner since acc play started.
Sorry to be the killjoy, but we are not getting better. Nice to win some ACC games, but we are pretty much stuck in the mud. Rough guess would be we beat our defensive efficiency numbers pretty substantially but underperformed offensively.
Before the game - 113 O / 73 D (Torvik w/o preseason bias)
After - 121/63
From 91 overall to 89. So, slight improvement
Well if Reece continues to improve as well as Papi, and Jayden has a typical game then we have a different game and potentially future games.
