I missed the game thread as unfortunately my mom has been struggling recently and is undergoing an operation tomorrow to hopefully let her continue doing chemo.
But man am I happy to have UVA basketball to take my mind off of things. And I am so happy for Papi. I am so happy he made me eat crow on all the shit talk I have given him over the season about how he’s unplayable and all the moaning and whining when he enters the floor. A win is a win, especially in a rivalry and I’ll take any win we can get this season.
Ok, it wasn’t the most inspiring game (other than Papi!), but the guys did indeed manage to get the split out of the UNC and VT games like we were hoping. 4-2 in ACC play at this point of the season really isn’t bad.
We’re always here when you want a distraction @Hooandtrue. A lot of respect for the way you’ve been there for your mom through her fight. Hoping for the best for her and your family.
I really do appreciate it y’all. Worst comes to worst, she’s a very spiritual woman and has been pretty at peace with it since the beginning of all of this. Taking it day by day and always welcome to have the distraction.
Stayed far far away from the internet last night and just catching up. Oh man, so so sorry to read this @Hooandtrue really hoping for the best for her and your family
First things first. That was a really good win and much needed. You can see the kids buying in to the importance of defense finally. I think there’s a new Sheriff in town in the middle. Consistent 3 point shooting can actually get this team skyrocketing sooner than later.
I know, and I apologize for maybe being a little aggressive. It was probably only the 3rd or 4th worst take of the season.
I guess I am still optimistic on Papi becoming a real contributor late in his career. I feel like people sometimes forget that Tony has a history of having guys develop into important pieces later in their careers. Darion Atkins comes to mind. Even Akil Mitchell was a pretty late bloomer, as good as we remember him being.
Those 2 2nd half possessions when Franklin missed wide open threes with plenty of time on the shot clock were deflating and demoralizing and cost us the 4 point lead we had built. Tech went on a 12-4 run. That had to be a dribble drive or let Reece go to work.
