Between UNC sh*tting the bed with the BB hire and Will Wade gaslighting the Heels at every opportunity, this has to be a golden era of some sort. Some might also point to VTās new Coachā¦. whatās his name?
Injury updates! Anyone can chime in on this!
My elbow tendonitis seems to have resolved itself after 5 months.
Few factors imoā¦
- Boleyās injury was huge. York has a bright future but wasnāt ready
- Louisvilleās DL is the best weāll face this year
- Morris was off, meaning the pass game was off. Felt like the run game suffered because we couldnāt stretch the field
That said, Taylor looked good to start with Boley in there, had a really long run that was called back for an unnecessary hold. But ultimately our injuries caught up to us. Not too worried longer term as long as we get healthy.
Believe JF or someone on 247 said they expect Boley back for WSU. Twitty has no ligament damage according to ball hawk and is getting more tests. Thatās all I got
I am good with it until Will Wade inevitably starts yapping at us.
Rogers showed enough last week that we should be fine against Wazzu with him backing up Ennis at TE for a game. Obviously will be nice if we can get Twitty back for the November run.
Excited to get back to a starting OL L-R of Boley-Josey-Wilson-Metcalf-(Witmer/Unamba) for a couple of series against Wazzu before hopefully theyāre all a full go for UNC. As others have said, excited for York next year but not this year yet. No disrespect to Metcalf whoās filled in adequately at C, but Wilson is a difference maker on the snap, I like having Metcalf at RG with Sipe and Wigenton good reserves on the interior.
I donāt think I can express enough how much I want to see us destroy UNC in a couple of weeks.
Any concern this is lingering from hitting thumb on helmet and not a 1-off?
Even if it is lingering, have to hope the bye week helps as does a week against low-G5-equivalent WSU where Iād like to see Kaelin play the second half.
Is Washington state that bad? I know itās a game we should win but admittedly donāt know much about how we match up
I think Morrisās injury was described as a thumb sprain. Assuming itās only a minor one given the fact heās been able to play through it, thereās a good chance heāll be fully healed by the Wazzou game.
Their record is 3-2 but generally speaking WSU is a bad football team. Lower third in basically ever y major statistical category. Their best win has been CSU⦠or Idaho⦠pick it
Itās a game we should win comfortably, would put them on the same level as a Stanford. They have one of the worst rushing attacks in the country and a defense that got torched by both North Texas and Washington.
UNC has an absurd 36-commitment class for 2026. No idea how badly itāll get hit with decommitments after this dumpster fire of a season, but Iād like to think we can get a couple players off it or from their ā25 class ready to get away.
VTās 2026 class will be a throwaway, but weāll see who they hire and what kind of quick traction they can get with the 2027 class. Not sure how many flips we realistically can get, a lot probably already drank enough anti-UVA Kool aid theyāll probably just leave the state to play it safe. Willing to reevaluate if we can find a staff spot for Fontel Mines, who the players seem to gravitate towards, even if Hokies think he struggles as a position coach.
PSU is still as dangerous as Ohio State or Michigan or Bama or Georgia when it comes to poaching in state recruits. As long as weāre in the ACC (same for VT) weāre just going to be at a disadvantage vs the SEC and B1G blue bloods, irregardless of record. Is what it is, Iāve made peace with it. I just want to battle well against UNC, VT, Maryland, Duke, Wake, and Pitt. If we can get a strong position against that peer group, our recruiting will be fine for this staff, this university, and this conference.
Was going to save this for the show but have to put it out there.
Who did WSUās schedule they go to Ole Miss this weekend and then back to the East Coast again the following week for the UVa game
Probably Jon Oliver.
I get it they arenāt in a conference but 3 consecutive road games in 3 weeks. 2 are across the country is insane.
Itās bad scheduling in general, the only thing I can think of is maybe they had to cobble this schedule together in the aftermath of the PAC-12 disbanding and just took what they could get.
To your point though I feel like you could still do better then making cross country trips this often lol. And then later in the year theyāve gotta go back to Va to play JMU.
Great point. Have to imagine scheduling gets tight when you get into Oct when 90% of the country is into conference games.
Crazy 3 cross country trips in 6 weeks. AND they play Oregon St twice?
This has to be the most hodgepodge schedule ever
Going deeper on this, the schedule is not because of the Pac 12 collapse. Oregon State has a crappy schedule but itās a most more user friendly one.
Away games 9/13, Oregon 9/20, App St 10/4, Tulsa 11/15, WSU 11/29
Thatās a far more reasonable schedule, they even got Wake to travel out to them.
