GO HOOS!
I said 23 was the magic number on pass attempts. AC tapped out at 20, I can live with that. 3-1 in Sept was the goal and they achieved.
Love, love, love how we established the run and didnât stray away from it the rest of the game. They didnât have the guys in their front 7 to match up with us and we took full advantage.
Good overall game from Des and our offense.
Yep, the footspeed on the backend was exposed, but also not too surprising. Itâs also difficult to stay locked in for some of those 2nd half deep balls when the game is in hand and the stadium is dead.
Good win.
Flipping it to LSU/UCLA, where the down & distance is right, we wonât hear conversations between the sideline reporter & producer, and wonât get random music for no particular reason.
Best called game of the CTE era. Find what works and ride that SOB until the other team makes you stop. Coastal didnât have a chance at stopping the run and Des doubled down on it to the tune of 340yards on the ground. Thatâs a masterclass in play calling
Needed to be a minimum of 3-1 going into the bye in order to have a chance at a bowl, and weâve officially done that. Got another big game against a good BC team in two weeks, wouldnât classify it as a must win but finding a way to get that one at home would be so huge for us.
My back of the napkin match has BC, UNC, Pitt, SMU, VT as the winnable games left on the schedule. Not an easy path to a bowl, but like you said they got the first art done. Now time to focus on BC and start the next part of the journey.
I donât think home against UL is an impossible task either, but them and BC both will be tough. Canât count VT given their dominance of us but theyâre not very good.
I think UNC/@Pitt/SMU is the best path to 6 but sneaking a home win over the next two games would help out a ton.
With as bad as our corner play is weâre gonna have to win shootouts. The pass game is gonna need to figure it out asap
We saw today why the gameplan for Rud up to this point has been to play our CBâs wayyyy off the line of scrimmage. Lots of size in our secondary but not a ton of speed.
I mean our top two corners were playing FCS ball this time last year. Clearly still adjusting but Louisville and BC will throw for 400 if we donât tighten that up.
That Pitt game scares more more than any on the winnable game list. I toas VT in there because it would be a marked win if not for the stupid history of the rivalry. That said I dont want to enter the weekend needing that game to get to 6 wins.
Ideally thatâs squared away the week before agaisnt SMU.
I still think we need a bit of a reality check. The last four games were probably the easiest 4 (maybe toss in UNC as well) on the schedule. They are likely the only game left weâll be favored in. Gonna need some serious strides in our backend, ACâs passing, and continuing to generate turnovers to even sniff a bowl.
You really, really hate our corners. I swear youâve posted on like 4 different boards 100 times in the past 3 weeks specifically complaining about the corners.
Not sure which one, but feel like weâll win one at home we probably shouldnât. It might end up being 52-49, but if we can do that and get 2 others, we get to 6. Agree we donât want to be at 5 going into VT because doesnât how bad they are, they transform into something else when they play us. With 2 exceptions, weâve seen it too often the last 25 years.
And? Do you have a point? Would you like to talk football?
Edit. I belong to this and 247, so 2 boards but who is counting but you apparentky.
Iâm just saying we get the point already. You donât like the CB play. And by the way I know itâs nitpicking, but Shine has 40+ FBS starts for a team that went bowling the last 3 seasons. If former Clemson starter Malcolm Green was better than our âFCSâ transfers, he would play over them but thatâs not the case (same thing with Dre Walker, who most would agree was pretty dang good last year). I donât think our corners are nearly as bad as you think they are or the stats seem to indicate.
You have to contextualize a lot of the plays that youâre probably thinking about. The reality is, the medium length plays in the middle of the field are going to happen when we have a big lead. Like it or hate it but thatâs Rudâs strategy. I actually really like Jam and Kempton. Theyâve been beaten, theyâve made mistakes, but itâs not as bad as you make it out to be. CBs are like OCs in that they are super easy scapegoats for fans who arenât really paying attention. Iâve seen enough from them to make me think it will get better. Frankly, I feel much better about our defense than our offense at this point.
lol i donât Castellanos is throwing for 400 against anybody. Has he ever done that?
Excited to sit down and watch the extended highlights since i missed the game.
Also wtf is that UNC score?
