Nothing about this game will change my opinion that we are a really good and dangerous team.

Stephen A Smith voice: “HOWEVA!”…a close game or a win will have me believing we can make a F4

That’s preposterous… but I digress…

Hoping the refs allow a physical game. If it’s a foul every time we body up Boozer then the game is already over. Michigan and UNC were allowed to play physical against Duke. If it’s like those games then we just need to make some 3s and it’ll be competitive at least

I know that as a nation we’ve given up on our relationship with the continent of Europe, but it seems quite cruel to make our Euros learn what a “Cameron crazie” is and make them play in that little auditorium after luring them over here

Duke Loses America Wins!!!

If we lose will we drop in the rankings much? I feel like 30 point win against a top 30ish team and then a loss to the #1 (as long as it’s not too bad) shouldn’t mean an AP poll drop, but AP poll voters are stupid.

And then when we win, where do we think we’ll be looking at? Like 5-6 maybe?

16 with a bad loss, 14 with a closer loss, 11 with a win

I just want to see the team go down there and play well. Make their shots, play defense, avoid turnovers. Play a solid game. If Duke plays better, then so be it.

We’re already 11? I’d say 15-16 with a bad loss, 12-13 with a close loss and 8 with a win. I see zero chance a 29 point blowout of a quality state team and a win at #1 wouldn’t get us firmly in the top 10

Thijs played an away game against the home team in this video:

Granted, the crowd for his game against them was probably not the crosstown-rival level of crazy in the video, but he might very well think the Crazies are adorable little children.

GrĂĽnloh said the (U20?) European championship against Serbia was pretty intense.

In Belgium, the road team only gets a lesser Trappist beer. He’ll be fine at Cameron.

Hard to try to figure out what AP voters will think, but there is plenty of opportunity to move up into the top 10 next week depending on our outcome and the outcomes of teams ahead of us:

  • How much will AP voters hold Houston’s three game losing streak against them? Houston plays a very meh Colorado team Saturday.
  • #6 UConn plays #15 St John’s tonight, they could drop that. They have Seton Hall Saturday.
  • #7 Florida has Texas tonight and then #20 Arkansas Saturday.
  • #8 Purdue plays #13 Michigan State Thursday. They have Ohio State Sunday.
  • #10 Illinois plays #3 Michigan in their lone game this week.

Obviously, if the Hoos beat Duke, they move into the top-10. Does beating NCSU by 29 and a close game with Duke move us up if teams ahead of us struggle this week? I’d say yes, but, obviously, I’m biased.

I really do think we can beat them. They’re obviously very good, but we have an older group of guys and the personnel to legitimately guard Boozer.

I am a little scared of Evans popping off on us since I assume Hall will guard Foster for the most part, and I don’t know who will be up to the task on Evans, but I think we can hold the rest of their guys in check.

Offensively I think it will obviously depend on shooting, but we’ve got the horses there that I am not too worried about it (although we’ve struggled in rinky-dink gyms…). But if the 3P shot is off well… we probably were never going to have much of a shot anyways.

They unfortunately probably have the size and speed to take Chance out of the game a bit, and I do think Ngongba/Brown is the best interior defensive threat we’ve seen yet, so I will be interested to see how we fare in the paint. Malik having a big game and being able to get them in some foul trouble would be huge. Not counting on it in Cameron, but my Dukie coworker has said his biggest fear is foul trouble for their bigs because he feels like they’re much thinner there and more susceptible to it than people realize. Malik and Thijs are theoretically good candidates to draw that foul trouble for them.

Losing to the best team in the country on their home court? I’m not sure we’d drop at all. Some teams might have really good wins this week and jump over us, but I don’t think we’re going to be penalized for a loss – not even a bad loss.
