I think we need to shoot at least 42% from three to have a chance to win; and stay out of foul trouble defensively.

Said this on twitter I think, but 40% from 3 and then some amount of time I haven’t exactly figured out yet before we let Duke into the bonus are the keys to victory for me.

Probably simpler to just do a total fouls number, but that wasn’t as close to what I was trying to convey spirtually.

Seems like everyone is giving this Duke team a lot more credit than I think they personally deserve. This team is really good but it’s not the super team of last year.

They beat a good Michigan team but that team also is flawed compared to any of last year’s final four teams (don’t quote KenPom metrics since those aren’t perfect apples to apples year over year). There isn’t a clear S-tier this season in my opinion.

UVA doesn’t need to go nuclear from 3 or have a bunch of calls go their way or some other unnatural break our way to happen for them to win. Just go play good basketball, shoot well, guard and play our game and we should be in a good position.

If our bigs play well, and guard this should be a great game. If Caleb Foster goes for 30+ and we lose that way well then hats off to him but their backcourt isn’t special. Great day to go be great tomorrow for the Hoos!

I was so skeptical of their backcourt going into the season, but Foster and Evans (kind of a stretch as a backcourt member I guess..) have really impressed me this year. I thought they were set up for a huge let down with no guards capable of running the show for their frontcourt, but Scheyer has done a pretty decent job (:face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:) getting production out of them (and more importantly keeping them from inhibiting their Boozer and co).

I think we can win, we have a pretty experienced team, and I’m hoping this is an Indiana football situation, but I think Duke is pretty damn good this year.

Fully agree with you though, let Caleb Foster and their backcourt try to beat us. I’m not convinced the production is real. If they beat us and make me eat my words, I’ll live.

(maybe a hot take, but outside of Evans, I think I’d take like 3 members of our backcourt before their next backcourt guy….)

Evans is good but he’s due to shoot them out of a game this year, let’s have it be this one

I do feel like we have a very good chance in this game. Duke is good, but so are we.
Their biggest weakness is that they are heavily reliant on Cam Boozer. Their biggest strength is–he’s really good. They don’t just rely on him to score a ton, but they use him as a facilitator for the rest of the team. His gravity allows others to get open looks and open lanes.

Our biggest strength is our numbers. We make hockey line changes and play hard on both ends for 40 minutes. We also have lots of guys who can go off on any given night. We just need to play our best on the defensive end and have a good shooting night to pull off the upset. Let Boozer get his, but don’t let the others get theirs.

Line went from 9.5 to 10.5. Hope not TDR related. D

TDR is good to go. Don’t worry.

Not a hot take in the slightest, I think Foster has been a let down from what he was billed as and it’s pretty clear why Sion James took over as the starter.

He’s not a scrub but doesn’t have the offensive pop of Thomas, White, or Mallory and doesn’t feel like he’s got enough glue to him to be a Dallin Hall. Now Isaiah Evans clears all of these guys in my opinion but I’d much rather have our backcourt than theirs.

DO NOT DOUBLE HIM. AND DONT JUMP ON HIS PUMPFAKES. LET HIM GET HIS

Absolutely agree. Let him get his. TDR will have to body him up the best he can.

My good friend Michael Allenby is the founder of the Festy. I saw Billy Strings there too. Many awesome bands over the years - Lake Street Dive, Infamous Stringdusters, Sam Bush…

We teamed up in 2019 and I co-produced the Festy when we brought it to IX Art Park in Charlottesville. Lineup included Dawes, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Della Mae, Samantha Fish, Anders Osborne… a good time was had by all.

Also, don’t go into the music business. A lousy way to make a buck!

I want so much to feel like we will beat Duke tomorrow, but I’ve watched Michigan a lot this season and an having trouble seeing us beat a team that beat them. Please prove me wrong, Hoos! Note: just watched Michigan destroy a really good Illinois team on the road. Big Ten is sooo physical this year. If we beat Duke, that’ll take my belief in this team to another level.

Our team is good whether we beat Duke or not. I don’t really understand why having to beat the #1 team in the country on the road is some kind of ā€œmeasuring stickā€ so to speak. I hope we show well tomorrow, I’ll be over the moon if we pull off an upset, but dude, they’re -10.5. If Duke beats us, I’m not changing how I think about our team. We’re good and we’re gonna be a tough out in March the way we’ve been playing as of late.

because they are by far the best team we have faced this year. Why is that hard to understand?

There are a few too many Puke 🤮 highlights in the below tweet, but it does end on the very rare Jay Huff forward dunk, so it gets a like.
