Seriously, I bet the pbp guy packs extra undies when heās calling our games
Iāll try that out for tomorrowās game.
I think CW counts as a local channel (?) which canāt be recorded outside of home area.
Oh, ok. That makes sense. I was late starting I think the second NC State game and had to wait around avoiding spoilers for the recording to become available. My girlfriend had intentionally scheduled her hair appointment during the game, so was annoyed to find me still watching it when she got home. Haha.
In our local market CW is an on demand only channel for YouTube TV so I had to get a digital antenna.
You can get one of those antennas and hook it into your TV. Strange but CW is one of those stations that everyone gets. With the antenna thing
You really need to find a girlfriend who likes Virginia basketball as much as me!
Tell me about it! She actually doesnāt mind going to the games, but canāt stand watching sports on TV.
Or at least have the rule i had. Like Virginia basketball or bye
Youāve seen those Freshpet commercials where the new date comes over and makes fun of the guy for having āpet foodā in the fridge? So he kicks her to the curb and gets in the floor and eats food with his dog?
It needs to be like that but instead of winding up in the floor eating food with your dog, you wind up on the couch watching the Hoos with your date.
Or you can just not put dog food in the fridge and watch the game with her and the dogā¦ floor activities optional
I like this breakdown from @StLouHoo on 247
"Very uneven season, has three sub-KenPom-100 losses to South Florida (neutral, by 16), Lipscomb (home, by 3) and last week to Louisville (road, by 9). Otherwise theyāve got a respectable 7-4 ACC record, the other 3 losses are to UNC twice and Clemson by single-digit margins, and have good wins over Wake and at Miami. So this isnāt a rollover.
In many ways this is a normal Hamilton team, lacking the future NBA headliners, but otherwise very deep (top 10% nationally in bench usage) and of course tall (#1 nationally in average height). Transfer PG Primo Spears is the only player under 6ā5", and Darin Green is their only starter under 6ā7".
Their offense is very paint oriented. They only shoot 32.5% collectively from 3, and as such take 3ās at the lowest rate in the ACC. They also share/move the ball terribly, league-lowest Assist-FG rate, coupled with a below average turnover rate (mostly dead-ball). For all that length, they donāt offensive-rebound at a plus rate, only sophomore big Baba Miller cracks the ACCās Top 25 in OR%.
Defense is very perimeter-pressure oriented. Lead the league in forced turnover rate and live ball steal rate, hold opponents to the second-lowest 3P% rate in the conference, and hold teams to the 3rd lowest assisted-FG rate. But once you get inside, they give up the 2nd highest 2P% rate in the ACC, foul at the leagueās highest rate, and are the 3rd worst defensive rebounding team.
Means the formula to attack their defense is clear: beat the press, get downhill with ball screens, donāt turn it over, and attack the rim either to score, get 2nd chance opportunities, or draw fouls. Donāt waste time hunting 3ās unless theyāre wide open room and rhythm.
Defensively just stay sound in the Pack Line, contest, donāt foul, and close out possessions after the first miss"
I remember 2020 season both games FSU was pressing us hard and I was thinking āWhy are you trying to take away the 3pt shot from Casey and Kihei LOL?ā
Their overexcessive perimeter pressure lead to straight line drive kihei layups. Itās how we beat them at JPJ that year and kept it close at Tallahassee despite being the much worse team at the time.
Thanks for the suggestion, @DFresh11, Iāll see what I can do. Clearly these CW games are going to be an ongoing thing, so I better figure something outā¦
This will be a big Reece game to attack their pressure
Of course. I got lucky cause someone gave me one (antenna). Had no clue how it worked but CW is on there
Good!- Defensively shooting teams are our kryptonite.
There are five teams in the ACC with an offensive TO rate under 15%: us, UNC, Duke, State, and Clemson. FSU has played UNC twice, Clemson once, and none of the other three yet. Tar Heels average about 10 TOs a game in league play; FSU forced 11 (6 live ball) and 17 (11 live), the latter of which was in Tallahassee. Clemson averages 8.8 TOs a game in conference play; FSU forced 14 (5 live) in Tallahassee. Now, FSU was also 0-3 in those three games, but they still managed to make both high-ranked opponents pretty careless with the ball in their gym, so itās definitely something UVA has to be extra prepared for.
Pretty sure the team is aware of the pressure FSU puts on UVA teamsā¦itās like their bagā¦probably something they celebrate win or loseā¦
