Having eliite 3 point shooters like IMAC and groves on the court together is such a nightmare for other teams. Add in Taine who isnt afraid to pull the trigger. Then if Rohde can at the least be a threat it changes the entire complexion of this team. Not to mention the emergence of Buchanan and Minor.
From 2-3 to 10-3. A masterful coaching job by TB and staff.
No argument. I also want to give mad props to all the players.
They never quit. Even when we stink. Even when it looks like we canโt ever not stink again. Even when we look like weโre so far away. Even when a lot of fans and pundits are saying the coach lost a step.
They kept working. The results are huge. Nationโs 7th longest current win streak, challenging for 7th ACC title in 12 years.
I think in the CTB era we have always have great guys willing to trust the process, and they are always rewarded with results.
Always rewarded with results. We have seen this over and over again. Yes its also a credit to the type of character that TB recruits. Connect that character with a hall of fame coach and you take over the ACC for over a decade. And itโs not even close. As UVA fans we are very fortunate. This is Dean Smith esq rarified air.
Great win. So many guys played well. I love that Dante can get to the lane almost anytime he wants. Anyone know how hard it would be for him to learn to stop his drive and pull up at 8 feet to dish/shoot rather than go all the way to the rim and get swatted? I feel like we have seen this issue before!
I like iMac starting to hit more than just 3-pointers too. Looked like he had a nice little floater in the lane. If he can get that shot more often, I think itโd open up a lot for him and us.
Something else that we have gotten so so much better at is moving away from/ without the ball. Buchanan Groves iMac all getting points slashing to open spaces last night and guys finding them
If that was an adjustment by team and staff, has been huge difference maker
The backdoor cut by Groves in the first half to rescue IMac (?) stuck without a dribble underneath the basket was beautiful. FSU in complete ball denial mode and he still just beat his man to the spot. Itโs still kinda insane that he started his career off as a walk-on in the Big Sky Conference.
I was legit impressed by the athleticism and on ams off ball movement by the Hoos. The constant movement and hard cuts got guys open slashing and seemingly everyone was able to get paint touches off the dribble.
I think a lot of the cuts last night were strategy against a team playing overly extended man. Pressing every spot makes it easier to get back door cuts. But also guys are getting much better (Isaac specifically) about understanding spacing both in general and coming off curls. Offense is getting much better and has a higher ceiling than recent seasons.
