Non Rohde related, who played great, but FSU’s pressure was underwhelming. So surprising to me at how lost they were on defense
Seein it go in is everything sometimes
I think sometimes the pressure can cover up not being completely sound. And of course length can cover a lot of issues as well.
The Celtics have a team rule to goaltend any shot after a whistle for that very reason
More like a Lenny Wirtz wannabe
Me after most calls yesterday
Also me after most calls yesterday
Also surprised they didnt trap in the corner. We often inbounded right into a corner but they never sealed and trapped there.
It was a soft kill the clock pressure. They didn’t really try to turn us over a lot
I liked Rohde’s two three-pointers and four assists, but I think his most valuable contribution was handling the ball, especially bringing it upcourt and initiating the offense. Took a lot of pressure off Reece, and Reece needed every second he could get to catch his breath. He was battling hard, and he was gassed.
I think that’s why we’re seeing more Rohde and less Bond and Eli: At this point in their development, Rohde is just a little bit surer with the ball.
Not to be negative (again through the roof).
Two things that are still meh:
Ryan Dunn’s offensive gravity on not putbacks/in transition. Still has quite a few moments where he gets the ball and just passes it. Might just be what it is this season and it’s okay with the other things going for us.
Front court foul trouble: Every legitimate post thread has put us in foul trouble inside. Still very intrigued to see what the match up looks like vs Bacot, Post, Filipowski. It’s okay if a post has a big game vs us offset by us locking down their guards. Its bad when the bigs are in foul trouble and we have to move everyone down a spot and out of position.
Uh huh
Half the reason to press and pressure the ball on the perimeter against us is to keep us from getting into our offense with time to set the first 25 screens of the possession. And they were super handsy on the ball. I thought we handled it so well.
Also Rohde plays excellent defence. A 6’6" guard who can wall off his man is a very good asset.
Also him hitting both free throws late in the game when it was a 1 and 1 was huge. He doesn’t get to the line much as we know and doesnt have a good percentage there, but he knocked down both confidently. Great to see
And we no longer have to hear that Rhode is a 30% free throw shooter. He’s sky rocketed all the way up to 42.9%. Eat it, haters.
I like how FSU chose to foul Rhode probably because his free throw % was terrible but that was based on just a few free throws he has shot this year. He shot 81.5 % last year…He camly shot 2 and touched nothing but the net
Hoping Rohde takes more of those driving layups he had and doesn’t let getting blocked deter him. FSU has unusual length but loved when he got to the rim. You could see some of the craftiness but his lack of full confidence probably was the difference in getting blocked or not. I’m convinced that part of his game will get unlocked at some point. That and a floater.
Also, need a replay on those attempts cuz I feel like one was a goaltend
Was here to say just that. Several of our guys should work on that Ty floater!
