On to the next… hopefully we see more of the lock-down defense from Wednesday.
GT is a better shotblocking team and better defensive team at the rim, but they end at a similar defensive 2P% to VT, as they’re getting kinda killed on mid-range 2s.
Midrange 2s you say?
Dragon will be in the house. That makes it home court advantage
Bring this energy
Damon has the jackets playing tough. W’s haven’t come as much but they’ve been very competitive in ACC play. They also can throw a ton of different looks at you personnel wise (9 different players have started a game). Should be a fun challenge.
I’ve been to the last 3 games at GT and they are generally UVa friendly crowds but I don’t expect that to be the case on Saturday. Like you said Dame had the team fighting hard and this is the msot buzz I’ve seen about the team since I moved here.
Yeah that’s one thing that stood out. More recently all of their games have been fairly close, typically within 7-8 points.
In “quality” games (Torvik), they are 74th. Much better than their 113th overall.
Naithan is freshman PG right? Reece!! Gonna have a big day
Yeah he is and he’s really come on as of late. 17 and then 20 last 2 games at Duke and Clemson. Hit 7 of 13 from 3 between the two games but imo the type of guy Reece will thrive against.
Half of his made 3s on the season in those 2 games.
I think the worry for me is that Georgia Tech has size at the 2-3. Similar to Notre Dame in that regard. McKneely isn’t going to get many opportunities if he isn’t hunting his shot and running off screens hard.
pbp - Jay Alter
color - Malcolm Huckaby
I love Malcolm. Played with/against him every summer in Boston at BC for pickup games which is where the P-5 college guys from the area played a lot. Great guy and he could play! Huck is the man.
Big one tonight. Have plans so will be waking up early to watch on tape delay before the kids get up. Go Hoos!
I was almost apathetic(?) going into the game on Wednesday, which is not what I want but at the same time was great for my mood and blood pressure. Now I’ve talked myself into thinking tonight’s game is huge and ready to have another Saturday ruined. Please lead us to the W @BDragon
We can talk xs and os all we want, but to me it is simple, mental.
They need to come out with energy and most importantly, they have to be able to respond to adversity when it comes. Which it will, even if we play well, GT will likely at least have stretches where they play well and make runs and we have to be able to punch back.
Need to win with defense. 1st half defense against VT can win us a lot of games
Road game against a not-great ACC team, but one with some weapons, and some prior success (e.g. Duke). Today is a good test of whether we’ve made the turn. I will remain pessimistic, assuming we’ll stay competitive until 5 minutes left in the first half, then fall apart second half.
Please, PLEASE prove me wrong.
