Will the anonymous donor stay anonymous?

  • Yes. Honor and integrity matter at the University of Virginia.
  • No. This rich mofo is going to celebrate with a zillion victory laps all around Grounds.

I did not expect Texas and Penn State to drop below us, much less fall out entirely. I thought Vandy and ISU would stay ahead, but that’s debatable either way,

Kinda the old adage of if you lose, it’s better to lose early and have more time to recover.

This is where I am. If we play the UL and FSU games 100 times, we probably lose 49 of them. But we won, and there’s so much we can clean up from those games. I’m not sure we’re a legit top 25 team yet, but I see how we can get there. It’s a nice floor to work from with those two wins in the books.

Can’t stop thinking about how upset Edrine was when Morris took that big hit. Was clear he felt he let his QB down by not holding his block. He was even checking on his QB after the game was won. Accountability.

I am. Those two wins, against very good teams, despite injuries, including one on the road in a very hostile stadium… that was enough for me. Look at the Top 25, most have at least one loss as well. Yes some of those have ā€œbetterā€ losses than NC State, but our loss was Week 2, narrowly, on the road. Given the absurd number of new faces we had it’s not surprising there were growing pains the first road game. The crappy teams we’ve played we all blew out, no ugly wins there either.

Which is to say, on the whole, the resume is fine for a T25 team. Not top 10 of course, and any CFP talk is very premature. But I’m okay with where we’re at.

I’m not sure there’s that much daylight between us. Let me put it this way: there’s just two hairsbreadths of difference between us and a very promising 3-3 team. I would be much higher on that hypothetical team that lost in OT to UL and FSU than most. Yes, winning close games is its own skill (one we haven’t had in many years, maybe since Chris Long was here), but we’ve been the beneficiary of some good luck. I think this team can grow (gelling, getting healthy) to the point where it doesn’t have to rely on that much luck. That’s the hope anyway.

Noticed that as well and also thought those 2 flags he picked up in the first half were definitely in hia head and why he let go when he did.

@JBHoo don’t get carried away but your pre-season dream is almost here. AND dare I day I"d be disappointed if it did given the way things currently stand.

At the risk of sounding like a ā€œget off my lawn!ā€ old guy, I hate the corporate sponsorships in bowls. From a prestige standpoint, an invite to the Pop Tart Bowl or Dukes Mayo Bowl sounds like a silly reward for a good season, even though both are pretty good prizes.

The reward is getting to eat the sentient poptart when we win. There’s nothing silly about that, please treat it with the respect it deserves. That pastry is going to give his life for this.
