@Merch Feels like with us rolling & excitement high (& holidays coming) new merch is in order??? My 16 year old is more interested in UVA gear now than he was previously.
Heat chart representation:
⦠and two voters had us Not Rated along with someone having UVA at 12. Shows how ridiculous the polls are in my opinion. We are not even close to 12 and also should at least receive a vote.
Two NRs were from Hartford and Little Rock
#12 vote from Houston
#13 votes are from Ann Arbour & Tuscon
I agree 100% the pop tart and mayo bowl are fun gimmicks for 7 win teams. But the hoos doing something potentially historic and ending up with mayonnaise on their head in a lame PR stunt is kinda a let down.
Thankfully we should end up well past the threshold for the Mayo bowl, so we donāt have to worry about Flavor Flav dumping a tub of mayonnaise on coach Elliottās head.
As goofy as it is, the Pop Tart bowl is the top non-CFP bowl slot for the ACC, so if we donāt find ourselves in the playoffs that would actually be best case scenario. And then right below that are some pretty good options too, Gator Bowl Sun Bowl and Holiday Bowl.
I honestly donāt mind the gimmicks as long as they full send into them like the Pop Tart bowl does. Theyāre fun and goofy, and unfortunately a lot of the prestige around bowl games has gone away now with the playoffs. So might as well have fun with the consolations.
Do the polls still have an actual role in college football? Like, are they part of the playoff formula? Or just for fun / getting your scores with only one click?
I keep thinking about Kaelin signaling touchdown the second the ball was snapped. Absolutely loved that.
(Also keep thinking about choosing to not try to win at the end of regulation which Iām still mad about, but it worked out and life goes on)
Nope! Committee is all that matters
There is probably some anchoring going on when the committee starts meeting to the numbers theyāve seen for months, but it is not an official component in any way.
Agree.
Iām all in on getting a playoff invite. I know the Pop Tart bowl is a big deal. Nut a part of me would prefer a trip to the Gator or Holiday Bowl
Again this is more opinion than science.
But my focus is Dec 20 Friday night lights
The Gator Bowl trip I took with my family in ā07 was a lot of fun. Long 10 hour drive but Jacksonville has a lot to do, just wish the game went better.
Obviously though yeah weāre in a position where the CFP is very much a possibility, and that would be the preferred outcome.
Definitely agree. While the Gator or Holiday bowls might not be as high in order as the 2 mentioned corporate-sponsored bowls in 2025 CFB, I watched those as a kid. They feel more like a ātrueā bowl game, from a day where a 7-4 record wasnāt a guaranteed bowl bidā¦unfortunately we had that happen a couple of times in the days of fewer bowls.
That might be whatās holding me up.
The destination makes the bowl. Going to Charlotte isnāt intriguing.
Pop tart bowl is in Orlando so thatās something.
Top 25 Teams Who Deserve a Cookie For Good Behavior is how I like to think of it in both football and basketball.
Yeah would prefer it to be something different. Going out to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl would be tough travel for a lot of our fanbase, and I donāt know a ton about El Paso for the Sun Bowl. Probably has good food at least.
San Diego is a rough trip bur a solid destination all in.
Iām on record with a preference for El Paso. Something different possible snealy fun location. Also a place I havent been and likely would never go
Yeah but I can go to Charlotte on short notice around the holidays pretty easily. Thatās tougher for Florida and Arizona.
Itās not a destination, but I know people who live down there and am far more likely to make a trip out of it.
As someone who was raised hokie and made Charlotte and Atlanta trips for ACCCG and bowl games a lot as a kid, thereās something nice about the convenience.
Anything but Annapolis again please
I live in DC and wonāt make that trip again.
I get it. Charlotteās an easy 4 hr drive for me. I just donāt find the city exciting at this point.
Annapolis is awful for a bowl game. Let me go there in the spring sit on the river and pick crabs at Cantlers. But I donāt wanna be there in Dec. I have even lower opinions of NYC and Boston as bowl destinations.
If we somehow get the Military Bowl again Iām in favor of just turning turn it down and ending the season.
Worst experience Iāve ever had at a sporting event.
my favorite bowl we played in was the Fenway Bowl⦠oh waitā¦
I love an excuse for a NY trip, but I feel you. Not the move that time of year.
Need to just add a basketball game up there for @haney and call it a day there.
I went to the Pinstripe Bowl once. Itās terrible. I donāt even like baseball playoffs when the temp gets below 50 or so. ![]()
