Obviously need to know Morris status. Assuming he plays and is t limited, Hoos win and the over. Something like 31-27.

@BDragon @JBHoo how we feeling this week? I’m scared of NC State DL.

Don’t want to be hyperbolic since it’s not even a conference game, but this does feel like the bellwether for the season. Win and I feel great, lose and it looks like probably 6 wins.

It’ll be a good measuring stick game forsure. The thing about state is they’re definitely trying to get their feet under them. 2 new coordinators and a weird first game where they played the same team who beat them in the bowl last year.

The mantra for them, and really on both sides of the ball, is pressure. New DC loves to get after it, and last season their OL was actually pretty bad. This game will be won in the trenches, I have no doubt about that.

I’m excited for this one. I think these are 2 fairly close to balanced teams competitively. Obviously Morris health is critical.

It’ll be a competitive game, but definitely one I think the Hoos have the tools to manage. We saw a lot of vanilla on Saturday and I don’t expect that to be the case next week.

I believe we’ll see the defense get more agressive and take some chances. Between the added depth and the back-end holding their own it allows for a ton more flexibility.

Make no mistake this is going to be a massive game. I won’t say must win as thats near impossible in week 2 unless your bame is DeBoer. A win on Saturday puts everyone on notice that this is an 8 maybe 9 win team. A loss and 8 is still possible but 6 or 7 is more likely and depending on how the loss looks it could spell trouble.

Does QB1 play and risk further injury?

Sounds like his injury isn’t even bad. He will get a needle and pain meds before game and ball out.

Morris is a 6th year senior who, if we’re being honest, doesn’t have an NFL future.

I would assume if the decision is put on him there’s no chance in hell he’s missing any time.

If he doesn’t he should be asked to repay his NIL.

Saturday isn’t a must win but it’s a must win and the exact reason he was brought in. No sense in saving him for a later date

Yeah my question is more about missing one game to get whole for the rest of the season vs never really being whole all season - what’s the better route?

I say this as I’m forcing my son to sit out his 2 soccer games this weekend in hopes his nagging peroneus longus and brevis injuries heal up because he can’t help but go hard in practice and games. Hopefully it gets him fully whole for the rest of the season instead of being at 75% all year.

I am will always advocate for player safety, but in this case I don’t see a need to.

First, and no offense to you, but the stakes at play, the role of the player and the staff, and the circumstances in the difference between U-12 soccer and D1 Football are so vastly different that it’s not an apples to apples comparison.

Furthermore, what’s likely a rolled ankle vs. a banged up non-throwing shoulder or a knock to the head require different protocols for recovery.

The fact that Morris was back on the sideline in street clothes almost immediately indicates the lack of the severity of the injury, and I’d still bet that if it was a close game or a game against a conference opponent he’d be back in for the 4th. Along those lines if the Hoos were playing W&M on Saturday then maybe I’d consider sitting him. But not against the ā€œNon-Conferenceā€ NC State.

Unfortunately playing injured is part of the reality we all accept when we play football. Especially at this level where millions of dollars and livelihoods are at stake. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and do the thing. At the end of the day Morris and the Hoos only have 10 chances to get this season right, can’t afford to let one slip away because a guy had a niggle.

Curious - at what % of health is QB1 better than 100% QB2 in your opinion?

Saying it’s the left shoulder.

He’s playing and fine based on what I was just told

Definitely play against NC State. If the shoulder’s still not feeling right after that, sit vs W&M.

Exactly my thought get through this week and then rest with W&M and a bye

I couldn’t put a percentage number on it.

But to go along those lines, we saw in the early drives it took time for the team to find their rhythm. New QB new pieces etc and still gelling. Flip flopping QBs right now would only delay that development for the entire unit and that may be the more important % difference number to look at.
