for the record I’m just taking up the mantle that @WFS_HOO has dropped. it feels unnatural, but I will persist.

The smile on my face and the wave of emotion I got from seeing that gif caught me by surprise.

ECU threw all over State last week. Only 1 sack. Some large chunk plays as well.

Hoos lose the time of possession but win a close one 27-23.

Guessing he will be a little more cautious about taking off and running.

I mean he made the right choice on the run. And he’s good at it. Just should probably learn to slide rather than try to break a tackle. He’s not exactly Cam Newton when he takes off.

Hootie/tony says Chandler is good for this weekend.

and I guess that we are changing our offense for him to play wingback

Still think we end at 7 but if we win Saturday, I think 8 is VERY attainable, almost likely. Stanford, WSU, Wake, and W&M should be wins - that gets us 5. State win would get you to a floor of 6 wins barring something crazy happening. From there, I see UNC, Cal, FSU, and Duke as all winnable, ordered in terms of likelihood of winning imo. Even Louisville is winnable since we’ve played them well lately but probably have that as the least likely of the group.

None of the teams remaining on our roster are without flaws. UNC looks bad, not sold on Cal’s win, Stanford and Wake look like trash can juice, FSU is TBD but not unbeatable by any stretch, and NC State is mediocre. Lot of winnable games even the ones on the road. And while Saturday isn’t a must win necessarily, it’s very important in terms of paving the way for the season we all want to have.

Man it only took 1 game to pull @BDragon to my side of 8 wins. We’ll see how we feel next week :joy:

Sounds like Morris is good to go, and on the depth chart Danley, Platt and Charles (OR) all receive ā€œpromotionsā€. I’m excited for these, I thought these guys all looked good on the field game 1. I hope to see more of Marcellus, I thought he had a strong performance as well.

Also worth noting, sounds like the plan is for Robinson to make his season debut against Stanford.

I thought I said 8 wins on the pod…

I think it’s certainly obtainable watching watching week 1. I saw enough out of the Hoos to believe they were more than just talk.

I also saw some opponents that changed my mind on what they are capable of. FSU moved firmly into the loss column. While UNC and Wake have gone from leaning win to expect to win. NC state has shifted to leaning after starting the season as leaning loss.

Yeah @BDragon voted 8 in the pre-Coastal version of this poll too. Guess that makes that the ā€œsmart moneyā€

Eh I don’t know about smart money. But that’s what I’m going with.

Ah my b I had you down as 7

I know I dabbled with the 7. And it’s why I like the over 6.5. But I know I said 8 at some point before Saturday.

Are we sure FSU is a for sure loss? I genuinely ask because I didn’t watch their game but keep hearing how bad Bama was

Bama looked awful. But FSU also took advantage of every mistake. I’m not saying FSU us suddenly challenging for the CFP. But I do think they are gonna be rolling hot when they come into Charlottesville in a few weeks.

FSU played a much tougher game than I was expecting. Truthfully I thought Castellanis running his mouth was going to bite them in the ass. Kind of refreshing to see someone back up the talk.

The big thing I’m interested in with regards to our game with them is what is the headspace for them? It’s a few weeks out but between now and then they play E Texas A&M, have a bye and play Kent State. Very real chance they’re really feeling themselves and get caught looking ahead to hosting Miami the next week. On top of that it’s a Friday game, messes with the routine…

Trying to be as unbiased as possible but to me given a couple more good showings from the Hoos this would be an easy ā€œtrap gameā€ call for the national pundits to pick against FSU.

Lots of thoughts about this game, but the more I look into it the more optimistic I get about our chances (which means the inevitable loss is gonna hurt even more).

Just rewatching stuff from the NCST-ECU game and looking at the stats, I’ve honestly found that if ECU didn’t put up a D level effort they win by 10+ points. They were 6-16 on 3rd down, 1-4 on 4th down, had a completely nonexistent run game (some credit does go to NCST for this), had 10 penalties and yet were still somehow 10 yards away from sending the game to OT with under a minute left. To be honest ECU dominated the 2nd half, they finally realized all the east-west sweeps and swing passes they were running didn’t work and started to attack NCST downfield.

We can’t afford to get off to a slow start like ECU did, if there’s a small nitpick that I had about our game last weekend it’s that we didn’t score on our first three drives. I want us to put early pressure on Bailey to march downfield and make them play on their back foot a bit.
