The more I think about it the more I really want to bet us, but thatās a recipe for being extra let down when I already feel like a lot is riding on this one.
From quarter 2 on against coastal we looked like the team we all think we could be, going away to Raleigh with a potentially dinged up QB scares me though.
With the matchups having been available for picking the last 36 hours or so, 87% of ESPN fans who play pick ems are favoring the Pack. Our group does a confidence rating system, so any time the Hoos are one of the 10 games to pick I have a really hard time putting any optimism/homerism in check
Just has the makings of a game weāve historically lost. That said, I do really like the matchup. Bailey scares me but heās prone to mistakes and their OL looked really bad in run blocking against ECU, so I think we will force them to have to throw more times than theyāre comfortable. And I liked how our DBās looked last week.
Comes down to our offense not shooting itself in the foot. NC State has a good DL but we should be able to shred them through the air. As long as CM doesnāt make any big mistakes (had a few INT worthy throws against CC), then I think we can put up some points.
Changing the subject slightly, am wondering what you guys thought of the backup QB (forgot his name already). I was not very impressed with what I saw. I left with about 3 mins to go but didnāt think his arm or accuracy were very good. I know that sideline pass he threw across field took forever to get there and the receiver had no chance after he caught it. I know he wasnāt working with our best receivers and a few were dropped.
Redshirt freshman in his first ever game action. Rushing things a bit. Hopefully heāll get enough run against W&M to get some real taste of his potential.
Yeah I didnāt see any glaring issues with the arm talent. The scouting report on him coming out of HS was that heās solid yet unspectacular in a lot of areas, good size, good arm, good pocket awareness, good mobility. But where he sets himself apart is that heās really, really smart and isnāt gonna be careless with the ball.
To me he looked a little antsy last Saturday, the reads were good and the throws were fine but the timing was way off. That comes with reps and game experience. If he was slated to start against NCST Iād be concerned about our chances of winning but Iām still very high on Kaelin as our future QB.
Like many have said I saw a first time player being thrown out there and he was a little out of his depth. Not terrible just hasnāt had the live reps or the first team reps to catch up. Its hard coming in after sitting for nearly 2 hrs and having to catch up to everyone
Ford bumped us up a lot after last week, 6th highest rise of the week, now a top 50 team! Has us about a 2.5 point favorite over NC State on a neutral field now which would suggest weāre a good bet even in Raleigh.
If Iām reading it right (big if!) 10 ACC teams (plus Notre Dame) took a hit, 8 of which are on our schedule (plus WSU, so 9 of our last 11).
Vegas is not quite as optimistic but trending im that direction. Line is now +2.5 dropping a point on 24 hrs. Old saying as you alluded to is home field is worth 2 pts.
Yeah, and Tony Elliott mentioned that he was out there with a group that he wasnāt used to playing/practicing with, so I can see where that could make his college debut even more difficult
I think itās been mentioned a few times but yeah thatās the plan. Always subject to change, especially with someone with his injury history. Also Tony probably needs to still be hereā¦
Here is a look at how all those changes impacted our season outlook from himā massively. We were at 5.9 expected wins before week 1 and now weāre at 7.6 with our most likely outcome being 8 wins. Good start!
