šŸ€ Virginia Transfers Watch - '23 - '24 Season

I guess polarizing debates about Kadin have replaced polarizing debates about Kihei this year.

Maybe I should write a post about how what we really miss this year is Kihei’s playmaking. (Note: That’s a joke. I’m really not looking to start another Kihei debate.)

Even if 14%, it’s better than Shedrick was last year, who was worse than Gardner.

I saw like 100 new comments in this thread and got excited that something good was happening. Then I started reading…

Nope, didn’t miss a thing, don’t miss this debate at all.

To be fair this is the Virginia Transfer watchlist. This is where the kadin discussion should be had.

Exactly, there’s no debate to be had. For better or worse, Kadin is gone. It’s unfortunate that we seem to be struggling so mightily on the boards and with big men, but the team is what it is and Tony needs to scheme better in order to prevent our defensive rebounding woes.

That’s not true with first-year bigs in Bennett’s system. Consider, for example, Mike Tobey.

He had a run of about 6 or 7 games in non-con and early ACC where he wasn’t getting more than 10 minutes. But the last 10 games or so, he was averaging 15 as he got more comfortable in thr packline.

Real talk what we really miss is Kihei’s vertical ability. Imagine how good we’d be if he was skying for rebounds on defense, immediate Natty.

You know who else would make us a guarantee for the Final Four*? 6’10" Igor Milicic Jr., averaging 14 points and 10.6 rebounds per game this year.

*probably a natty but I don’t want to go out on a limb so I’ll just say Final Four

… Is Igor our solution at the 4 spot next season? 35% from 3… Im joking… just kidding…jk…

(I get this reference now, thanks NFL)

Nah Stattmann was better right? Much better than giving a 6-10 freshman a bunch of experience on a middling NIT team.

Traudt got the start tonight because one of the regulars was hurt. I actually caught a good portion of the game today. Was the first time I’ve seen Traudt play, and I was struck by how big he was. Not just tall but dude is stout … in a slow, unathletic, lumbering kind of way. And the way he’s used on offense is just truly bizarre. Straight to the corner to wait on a kick-out that may or may not come. No movement, no screens, no cuts … he just stands there. So strange. He didn’t show me much on defense either. He would not be able to guard an athletic four. IDK, this is a very talented Creighton team so maybe Traudt doesn’t quite fit this year and break through. Will be interesting to see what opportunities he gets and how he progresses. So far, not that impressed.
