I guess polarizing debates about Kadin have replaced polarizing debates about Kihei this year.
Maybe I should write a post about how what we really miss this year is Kiheiās playmaking. (Note: Thatās a joke. Iām really not looking to start another Kihei debate.)
Exactly, thereās no debate to be had. For better or worse, Kadin is gone. Itās unfortunate that we seem to be struggling so mightily on the boards and with big men, but the team is what it is and Tony needs to scheme better in order to prevent our defensive rebounding woes.
Thatās not true with first-year bigs in Bennettās system. Consider, for example, Mike Tobey.
He had a run of about 6 or 7 games in non-con and early ACC where he wasnāt getting more than 10 minutes. But the last 10 games or so, he was averaging 15 as he got more comfortable in thr packline.
Traudt got the start tonight because one of the regulars was hurt. I actually caught a good portion of the game today. Was the first time Iāve seen Traudt play, and I was struck by how big he was. Not just tall but dude is stout ⦠in a slow, unathletic, lumbering kind of way. And the way heās used on offense is just truly bizarre. Straight to the corner to wait on a kick-out that may or may not come. No movement, no screens, no cuts ⦠he just stands there. So strange. He didnāt show me much on defense either. He would not be able to guard an athletic four. IDK, this is a very talented Creighton team so maybe Traudt doesnāt quite fit this year and break through. Will be interesting to see what opportunities he gets and how he progresses. So far, not that impressed.
Papi - in his first 5 games already has his 3 best assist games of his career.
Currently leads Santa Clara in assist %. and 6th in the WCC. Also 4th in the WCC in offensive rebound % and 5th in overall rebound %.
4th in Win Shares per 40 minutes.
