Being a woman does not mean you get to accuse people of hate without pushback. I have not attacked you personally. I have disagreed with your classification of discontent as hate

I’m sorry my use of ā€˜lol’ bothers you but you will see I use that very often on this board. When used during disagreements it typically does not mean I am laughing at you but is more to convey my tone is not angry. I’m sorry you feel attacked but I have not said anything about you personally in this exchange. I like what you bring to the board. I just disagree with your characterization in this instance

Anyone when interviewed for a job … and asked about why they left a previous job likely has some negative honest things to say. Nothing wrong with that.

Probably the best explanation in this long thread!

ā€œThought I was getting this job, boss had me doing this job insteadā€. Could you have done some things differently in work, probably, but didn’t work out so on to a different field.

I doubt he hates the coach or program, and honestly I’m happy he set a strong academic standard for the basketball team by getting a degree from the Comm School. He used college basketball to maximize education and earning potential, and then used another opportunity to do it again. Won’t hate on a young man trying to better his life and not just ā€œget to the leagueā€.

My only qualm about the Kadin transfer and Papi and Traudt to a lesser extent is that this year felt like the one we were building toward and the first one since 2019 that had a chance to go deep in March. With a starting 5 of Reece, Isaac, Rohde?, Dunn, and Shedrick, there was potential for an elite team. Now, we’re going to waste (in terms of March performance) our last year of Reece and Dunn, and effectively be back to square one next year with question marks at the 1 and 4, with the 4 likely being filled by a transfer, repeating the transfer issues which have been discussed here ad nauseam.

I am genuinely curious about who ā€œhatedā€ on Shedrick for "maximizing " his academic opportunity? I admire the kid for earning a degree from the Comm school. I am always excited about guys on the team who take their educational opportunities seriously; I believe Taine is another good example.

So, very confused regarding where that came from.

Doesn’t say anything about specific people hating him, just me saying he has my support and I don’t have any problem with him leaving and the manner he’s conducted himself since leaving which is what is meant by - ā€œwon’t hate onā€¦ā€

Funny that Shedrick is beloved as aoon as people look at him and strangely believe he would be our savior if only we had him this season. I remember different opinions when he transferred.

I think you are making a lot of assumptions and generalizations. It was pretty mixed. Whatever opinion people had at that time they probably are the same now.

I don’t think too many have said he’d be a savior, just mainly that he helps with a blatant rebounding problem. Opinions can change over time as well.

Really it’s just about any of the front court players that transferred away currently are being missed following 2 games with 20+ orebs conceded.

No? ā€œWe would be a final-four contender if we still had Shedrick.ā€

Not viewing him as the savior for our team?

The Kadin debate is like a presidential debate. Data shows us Its virtually impossible to sway a person’s opinon in a candidate. There’s generally enough of a sample size that people have their minds made up before the first ad, tactic etc.

That is Kadin for Virginia fans. The majority of people have picked their side based on what they saw or didn’t see and they aren’t budging.

The best you can hope for is to convince more people to show up for the debate.

If you can show me 2 different people in this thread that said that outright Shedrick makes UVA a F4 contender (I’ll even let you have the 1 that got your replies started) I’m happy to back off this point.

Overall I personally don’t think he would make that jump for UVA, just that rebounding is a struggle and he’d be helpful. Also that I don’t fault the guy for leaving and think he’s been fair since departing.

You’re confusing the need for a big man with the need for Kadin. We have no specific need for Kadin himself, but if you can’t see that we have a glaring need for an experienced big man on this team, I don’t know what games you’ve been watching.

I am not going to argue his arrogant, thankless (guess he doesn’t remember the pillars) behavior since leaving.

With regard to rebounding I think you are probably right but pause only to note that one of the criticisms of him at UVA was that he is a terrible rebounder. Still, we can’t get worse.

Why are we assuming this is a wasted year 5 games in?

I’m very confused because that is exactly what I believe.

We’ve been watching the same games, I think, as I literally agree with every word of that. I think you are confused…seriously.

We’ve got one in Minor. He needs to get better in practice to get more minutes in games.

His career rebounding percentage is 16.6%, better than any major contributor at UVa since Jay Huff.

At this point, I don’t think anybody can reasonably expect anything more than what we’ve seen out of Minor. We’ve seen that if players aren’t getting run in the non-con, they certainly aren’t getting it in ACC play. Also, the career rebounding percentage is a fun stat, but let’s not pretend like 16.6% in the NEC is remotely close to 16.6% in the ACC.
