It’s kind of a thing where if he could address 1-2 issues that seem to be low hanging fruit he’d be elite. His stat line from last game was awesome but he should have had 18 instead of 10 if he could take any bit of contact around the basket and his hands were less rock like.

I feel like we are appropriately evaluating him.** Zach is right at pointing out that stuff, but we’ve known that since the Florida game. Remember the crazy Cory A play? That was a great Blake play on a guard.

The question mark is defending true bigs and as @Foresthoo points out, various things on offense (like finishing in traffic)

** at least my evaluation is correct. What else is new?

And not pass up a dunk to pass it to the corner for a 3 point attempt

Wrong. He is a lot better and worse than everybody thinks.

Agreed. Of course, if he was already that solid around the hoop as a young big he may not be at UVA.

I am ready for Christian Bliss
Hope his injury is healed
He can shoot & handle the ball

I hope he can join a long list of UVA PGs… Billy Langloh, Othell, Jeff Jones, Ty, Reece, London, Harold Deane, Cory, and others I am momentarily overlooking

I feel like the game just looks to fast for Blake. I’m optimistic about this improving considering where he was playing in HS and being injured this summer.

What’s not encouraging is that he doesn’t seem to have taken a big step since last year and continues to struggle to finish against smaller guys.

I think that, as of now, we are seeing mostly the same game he had at the end of last year, because he was banged up and missed a good chunk of the offseason development time

Also, Kenpom shows him gaining 2 lbs YoY, but I thought it was more?

You forget who was on that Siena team. Unreal PG the Wizard. May have taken us to overtime in lovely Anchorage

Game two was South Carolina then finals against a real UCLA squad

Doremus Bennerman started and ended his career at the same overseas team as one that a UVa legend currently plays for.

Name the uva legend and I’ll give you one of my 5 votes for next uva coach

Name the team and I’ll give you two votes

Post the logo and I’ll write in your name

Justin Anderson Barcelona

I feel like there was more patience with guys like Mamadi and Shedrick than there is with Blake. Don’t get me wrong people complained about them too, but I feel like too many people are basically writing Blake off like he’ll never be the player we hoped he would be. He’s played like 30 games (and didn’t have the benefit of a RS year like some other bigs). I just think Blake is under the microscope more because he’s had to play such a big role early on.

The guy shot under 50% in Idaho HS basketball.

I just don’t think he’s the guy. And it’s been awhile since we’ve developed a back-to-the-basket guy…
