Agree, think I’d rather have length then strength on Dixon, so Blake and maybe even some Cofie. If you drops 25 inside then fine. What I don’t want is him be able to shoot a bunch of 3s.

Only two last night, and none in the first half.

@AdventiveQuasar noted in the thread about that this was line up for 5 possessions last night and it was rough. Saunders/Cofie/Blake were all in the same spots and didn’t find a flow. May be solvable against a not-zone or with more practice.

It might be helpful if they wouldn’t get cold at the same time all season. Maybe they should get up those extra shots at opposite ends of the floor.

I am actually in the camp of you dont go get extra shots like that after you think you shot poorly

Go to Slaughter and bang shots all night against @haney. Will do wonders for your confidence

I think it’s a skill set thing. Even though Saunders and Cofie are willing 3PT shooters and will touch the ball on the perimeter, they seem to be more comfortable so far running handoffs with a guard or setting a screen for one rather than being the one coming off the handoff/screen.

Maybe one of them gets more comfortable with doing things with the ball? I’m not sure. My general rule of thumb is that guys in-between positions on offense are more likely to slide down (ie towards the big man end of the scale) than up, but that’s not an immutable rule or anything.

I like Saunders on Longino. iMac guarded Poplar last year. I think we guard Dixon by committee.

for some reason i feel better about the team after last night’s game. If you don’t play taine and get 40% outta ish and power this is a 30 point win. Thought Dai Dai played better than expected. Cofie had another good outing. Saunders and iMac will be consistently solid.

I can’t really describe what I saw with JRob. Can’t find the words. It was like those scenes in the 60’s Batman when they are climbing up a building with a rope. And really it’s just done with a sideways camera. But they sorta look like they are climbing a wall…but you know something is off. That’s the best description I can come up with.

Honestly, as someone who really wants ARob to succeed, and last year was really excited for him to come off his redshirt, I have to say that watching him this year it’s clear that the game is moving way too fast for him and he basically just looks like he has no idea wtf is going on, and watching him on the court it seems as if his teammates don’t really trust him on D.

His physical movements (awkward) look like Sheds when he first started getting minutes. But maybe worse.

I’m ok with experimenting with Sharma, Power and Taine at the 3. I love Sharmas confidence and Moxy, plus he is pretty quick so may be able to hang defensively… With that said I also don’t want to lose Power for the year…maybe Sanchez is trying to wait out the 30 day transfer window?.

I can vibe with this take…so IF Rohde needs to play then it might have to be at the 3 as a secondary ball handler… What this means is that Power, Sharma, and Taine would sit so we would need offense coming from somewhere else.

I would go with DD, iMac, Rohde, Saunders and Cofie for heavy minutes BUT I know Blake will still start.

Not giving up on Power. We’re 2 games in, and one was against a goofy matchup zone. Not to mention the drama w CTB snap resigning, and with what I have to assume is a blizzard of soft inquiries to our guys re interest in transferring. Power apparently can shoot lights out. Let’s get a better sample size before concluding he can’t do it in games. He showed some moxie on the boards last night. And he’s capable of handling the ball, and is a good passer. Check back with me in a month. And the same on all the other new guys.

Cofie is the most impressive true freshman since….?

Guy. He was really good as a first year. Broke into the rotation among multiple upper classmen and shot 49.5% from 3. I feel the same way watching Cofie as I did Guy, where I’m certain he’s going to be a star

I’m as bulled up on Cofie as the next guy, with the probable exception of our resident permanent optimists (:up_arrow::up_arrow: and :up_arrow:), but one comment Saunders made last night has me tapping the brakes a little bit. He specifically said ā€œhe’s been working on his 3 ball and that’s been going in for him.ā€ In other words, he’s probably not as good of an outside shooter as we’ve seen so far. Obviously, he’s not going to shoot 75% for the season, but maybe it’s worth contemplating how amazing we think he is if he turns out to be a 30-33% type shooter from 3. He could obviously be better than that but I’m willing to take any comers who want the over on anything near Kyle guy’s first year.

Fwiw I’m pretty excited about him if you guarantee me he shoots 33% or better.

Edit: quick somebody get me peach jam stats

On the flip side Cofie is a really strong rebounder.

Most rebounds by a freshman since Assane Sene (but also not many young forwards played as heavily under Tony)
