Iām most worried about our guards being able to defend.
That an any minutes where weāre playing Saunders and Blake 4-5 which Iām convinced is our worst commonly used frontcourt option.
*I say āworriedā Iām not actually very worried because Iām not expecting it to be very competitive - but thatās where I think weāll feel the most pain.
Yeah Duke is annoyingly good this year, especially on defense.
I think if thereās any justification to us having a chance in this one, itās that Scheyerās teams donāt play at a particularly fast pace, at least compared to Kās squads. That at least gives some chance of us making it a low possession slugfest and hopefully getting hot enough from 3 to stay in it. Finding a way to get Maluach in foul trouble would also help us quite a bit, was a major key for Clemson in their win over Duke.
An old friend runs a youth basketball league in New England (and if his son keeps growing he might one day get a shoutout from Hooandtrue), and heād been telling me for years about this kid from Maine who was crazy good but he never mentioned the kidās name (or maybe he did, but I wasnāt paying close enough attention).
Finally, he was like āOh, you might get a chance to watch him play, he just committed to Dukeā. I was like āHoly shit, youāve been trying to tell me about Cooper Flagg all this time?!?ā I could have known about him before he was cool, but I wasnāt paying close enough attention.
Damn, I loved Joe Harris. I would always say, āPut the franchise tag on Joe. Heās a good player, can finish in traffic/with contact, and was a gamer.ā Will always be thankful for Joe. He was part of the beginning. And who can forget that famous pickup truck he hadā¦
You raise a solid point. I didnāt have to go through āOh wow, this kid is so goodā only to watch him spiral into the fires of Hell/Duke. I saved myself some heartache thanks to my inattentiveness.
