Good question. Waiting for that answer myself
This is not the expert but he has long wind up to his throws not the normal ball to ear and gun it. Also lefty effect I think. Throws more like a pitcher
It’s not really a sidearm throw but there’s a hitch in it or something. Jim Furyk-esque throw. It just looks so odd to me but I can’t put my finger on it.
I’m no expert but his throwing process seems to include two separate arm motions rather than one fluid motion. Seems as if the cock back and the actual forward motion are segmented.
You’re all correct. I’m not a qb guy. But he has a long wind-up. He drops his hand to his waist then brings it back up before release. He also never really brings his arm all the way back up so it looks almost like a sidearm.
Dropping the ball is concerning esp if he has to work im traffic. Experienced DBs will also use that as a tell and break on routes. The length of the delivery is most concerning
All that said throwing is like shooting. Can you be a good passer without perfect form? Sure but you’re going to need to compensate.
When Philip Rivers was at NC State they always criticized him on how weird his release was… it all seemed to work out for him I think.
Depends on who you ask…what he won?
LOL… that’s being critical… his career, albeit Super-Bowlless (is that a word?) has been successful with that strange-ass side arm throw of his.
@BDragon A couple hundred million dollars.
That odd form looked great to me in the 4th quarter. Not so much before then
Ouch didn’t know there were so many Rivers fans on here.
Happy Birthday @BDragon!!!
Dragons bday? Happy birthday my brother @BDragon
Thanks it’s tomorrow but @jazznutUVA is in Europe so it’s tomorrow there.
Oh yeah… that’ll do it. I can see the future.
Then help me start picking some winners on Saturday
Happy birthday, man! @BDragon
