Virginia vs. Florida (11/10/23) 7pm EST ACC Network

I’ve been on CavsCorner forever. Good people have come and gone, and a few of the more narcissistic ones have been removed because they needed attention and couldn’t handle anything critical.

It’s definitely quieter, though in part, it seems, because there may be too many boards for this fanbase, and good posters are split up a bit.

I appreciate coming here because I love the pure hoops knowledge, and while I played throughout high school and JV at UVA for a year, I’m not as knowledgeable on the scheme discussions and just tend to enjoy listening more.

Any talk about the Hoos on any podcasts that I can listen to? Need my fix!

I still subscribe to CC but it’s not what it was a few years ago. Houston puts out some good content which is why I stay, but they rarely get a recruiting scoop now.

You know, one of the things I’ve learned over the years is that if you don’t like the way someone posts, you can choose to not read it.

Or you can get angry and lose your mind over something that really isn’t all that important because you took it personally that someone disagrees with you.

I’m generally optimistic about the program and the future, but seeing weaknesses on a specific team doesn’t make someone less of a fan. But hey, if anyone wants to get big mad about it, have at it. There aren’t many people whose opinions cause me much grief.

Yeah, I mean it is a fan message board. You’d think that was understood and I think people who aren’t looking to pounce do understand that, but people struggle with disagreement.

Field of 68s nightly podcast (after dark) talked about us after Duke-AZ. About 35 minutes in. Spent at least 10 minutes or so

Random end of game thoughts:

  • we managed to score a bunch of different ways down the stretch. Reece at the hoops. Dunn put back. Blake getting fouled. Not the prettiest, but encouraging
  • Clayton hurt them on the last couple possessions with two bad plays (not to mention a missed FT), but credit Reece and RD. I don’t know if many dudes are getting to the lob Clayton threw to Samuel. And Clayton had an unforced error on their last possession, but also was having trouble getting anything v Reece

Ultimately, still not really sure where this leaves us.

  • Blake was a revelation.
  • Too many ORs wasn’t exactly surprising, but the magnitude was, I guess.
  • The athleticism is apparent and making a difference.
  • The offense is uninspiring, but getting the job done (points off TOs help)

If Dunn, Roadie, and Mac improve on offense, and if Blake can give us 20+ like we got Friday night, this team could be like, really good. But I don’t know how likely any of that is.

Should note though - just getting that win was huge for our tourney hopes. Not even predicting forward - probably puts us at more likely than not. Don’t lose cupcakes and beat WVU or SMU and then we can afford to lose two of A&M and Wiscy and Memphis, without worrying too much (assuming we finish top 5 or 6 or so in ACC).

My goodness leave it to a UVA board to take a 3 message spat where the worst things said were ‘must not watch other games’ and ‘annoying’ and have a 40 post dissertation on it

It was not a good moment on my part. I apologize @Galileo24. But the rest of y’all are taking a mild exchange way way too seriously

Honestly this is all HGN’s fault for trying to downplay the travesty that was Cory Alexander committing treason against our program late Saturday night (this is a joke pls don’t ban me).

We’re good! I keep forgetting how seriously people take comments when they can’t see the person saying it.

People love the Cory beef story. haha I don’t know if it’s the weirdness of it or just TB getting worked up. I noticed the youtube postgame show with @DFresh11 talking about it got like 20x the normal views.

Awesome; thanks @haney!

I think it’s definitely the weirdness of the circumstance, plus it’s pretty strange in itself to see TB that upset. I do agree the outrage is overblown in my opinion especially since we won, but not gonna lie for a second when it was happening I found myself getting pretty heated by it too lmao. Just like, “Cmon Cory, any other team but us and I don’t give a shit”.

I noticed during the first official review this afternoon the ESPN announcers noted that they are in the box and have nothing to do with the review. They seemed to be making a deliberate effort to make that clear.

How about preseason? I mean all kinds of predictions in the preseason when no one has seen the teams play. The difference is now we’ve seen the team in a tiny sample. A lot will change of course.

People getting mad about people drawing some harmless inferences after seeing the team play two games (three if you want to count the blue white game but I wouldn’t count it) are the same that were fine with predictions before the season when no one had seen anything.

Maybe we can go ahead and start the NC AT&T thread for Tuesday now …

Like Tarleton, they don’t have much height on their roster.

Dude don’t be ridiculous. Nobody in this thread has come even remotely close to a ban-worthy offense (edit: excluding actual in game posts, for which basically everybody should be banned, myself especially). Please tell us who you think “we” should boot.

Vegas…hell yeah…the restaurants alone are reason enough to hit Vegas…and I could get sidetracked on the way out to dinner to belly up at the BJ table…but it would be fun to watch east coast games all morning long with you while gulping down double vodka bloody Mary’s…
