Continuing to look over their game 1 stats. They were 15-30 from the line and committed 11 turnovers. Eek

Also, in addition to 35% from 3 Loyola shot 46% from 2. Not awful numbers.

If I remember right that was the year Bennett experimented with the 5-out set…and it pretty much got scrapped after the loss to San Fran. Somebody correct me if I’m mixing that up. But if so, it doesn’t tell us much about how Florida would guard blocker/mover. I’m guessing they’d overplay like a lot of teams do…same idea, force you into making individual plays.

Also maybe more Dante. Of course, they may not bother to run him off the line. In any case, we didn’t see much in the circle other than Reece and a little Dante. Should be interesting to see if we can be successful without a high volume 3-ball show.

You’re right about that. Tony said later that he scrapped the 5-out because COVID limitations didn’t give them enough opportunity to practice and get it right. It’s a hard offense to run. The players really need to be in sync, and we just weren’t.

Games where we’re the 1 point favorite are the only UVa games I’ll bet, and always for the opponent. Not because I think we’ll lose, but at least if we do, I can have some consolation.
