Virginia vs Georgia game thread

I hope that you’re right and I promise, I’m not trying to be a negative nelly, I’m just having a hard time seeing where the scoring is ultimately going to come from to win games in the ACC. Some problems won’t be eliminated, no matter how much some of the team improves.
The lack of a quality second 5 hurts tremendously. Papi just ain’t it. That’s an issue that’s not going away. The other being that Kehei and Reece play a tremendous amount of minutes and, generally speaking, neither are quality shooters, though I will give credit to Kehei as he knocked down a couple open threes tonight.

Franklin is better on the move. Creating off the dribble and being active while the ball is not in his hands so Kehei or Reece can get him the ball at the right time. Love to see Carson get a little more run. It’s nice to see a 3 point shot that don’t scare you on this team

Yeah, Shedrick is just Mamadi part 2. All hustle and a ball of energy, but still figuring it out. It’s gonna take probably a full season for things to slow down for him, but it will eventually.

Yea when he finally gets it we are going to have a monster

He’s similar to Mamadi, but he’s also 2-3 inches taller. Won’t have to rely on pull up jumpers as much

The only team I see having a hard time scoring on in the ACC is FSU. The rest of the ACC is not good defensively.

I was pretty encouraged by tonight. The rebounding sagged at times, but overall the energy and fight and grit were pretty apparent. The offense is still a work in progress but guys showed willingness to shoot when open and drive hard close outs. Defensively, mistakes are still happening but everyone is battling. Mistakes can be fixed if the effort is there. Right now, we aren’t great by any stretch but we don’t have to be a finished product yet. It feels like there is noticeable improvement already and I believe that trajectory will be maintained (with some road bumps of course) as the season progresses.

Duke will be tough because they are enormous

What happened to that guy? Don’t see him on here anymore

I could see Duke beating us badly both times. They have shooters, tremendous size, depth, just in a different league than us this year. Hate to say it. Maybe we’ll improve a ton by then and give them a game.

But but but he’s got boogie!!

Duke isn’t as tough as Houston defensively and I don’t think they have better guard play… Roach Keels is not better than Edwards Sasser.

Banchero is the difference maker, obviously but Duke isn’t some tough big squad.

Shedrick was so damn good defensively to end that game. He and Franklin were the difference down the stretch. Thought we came close to blowing UGA away. Couple of missed dunks, a 3 that was in and then out, some boneheaded mistakes, etc. We just aren’t at the point where we can pull away but the defense kept us in it. That’s encouraging. Just have to hope the offense continues to find a groove and that’s going to HAVE to involve getting Gardner more involved and Shedrick being more aggressive

We all know it’s the boogie that matters

Yea that was the first game I felt good about this year. Far from perfect but felt like a Virginia basketball team for the most part.

You really think Kadin is here for his extra Covid year? I think it’s way more likely he leaves after next year.

I see him taking the Mamadi route. Redshirted and barely played last year. Still a major work in progress offensively. Next year he should start putting it together more on that end and being a more confident player, but then sets up nicely to use that 5th year to be the guy like Mamadi was
