šŸ€ Virginia vs Holy Cross, W, 67-41, 5-2 (0-0 ACC), Friday, 29 November 2024, 1600, ACCNX

Fortunately we only play UNC & Duke once because those 2 and Florida are likely guaranteed losses. Maybe at Pitt. Outside of those, I think we can at least be close in the rest. Won’t win them all, but I think this group wins 18-19 in the regular season.

I think Florida is better than St John’s. Haven’t been tested as much but really dominating everyone. 11th in Torvik. Just beat a top 100 Wichita State team 88-51. Beat top 75 Wake and FSU by 17 and 13 respectively.

Last 4 minutes or so really good. Gives you a look at Ron’s relationaship with individual guys

Holier Cross even. Yea but we proly had 90 that game and people were entertained

Shit you still remember it. An OT thriller

I do enjoy Ron’s press conferences. He’s somehow even more philosophical than TB was, or maybe just philosophical in a different, more mystic way. And some cool nuggets in there, like telling Dai Dai ā€œyou don’t need to conform to usā€ and saying that he wanted to take a syringe of Dai Dai’s attitude to inject it into other guys.

I mean the best PG award is literally named Cousy.

Also the name for those dumb things people hold their IPAs in since they are undrinkable

Watching condensed game, our facilitators missed wide open bigs at least 4 times. That’s going to bite us against better opponents. I’ve noticed it in other games too.

There’s a risk with Blake and Elijah finishing around the rim but I think having more diverse shot selection offsets that risk over the long term. Also, while Blake and Elijah get open a lot, but I rarely see Cofie getting same looks. i think that’s a function of his awareness and off ball movement - hopefully he can improve as season goes on, because I think he could be a better finisher than both

I really enjoyed this interview. Made me appreciate Ron much more.

There were a few drives where they’ve had Blake open in the post and Dai Dai saw it and refused the pass. The same against Manhattan. I think there may be some trust issues.

Finding the open man is not one of Dai Dai’s strengths. On his court-long drive for a fast break layup he missed a pass which would have led to an easy basket (attempt). Now, he made the layup himself (in spite of me thinking "give it up!), but had he failed it would have been recognized as a poor choice.

I don’t really think he is selfish, just think he may just not be sure enough of his ability to both dribble drive and look around. He did seem to make some nice passes in the Manhatten game.

He has exceeded my expectation so far and if he can start seeing the floor a little better, we should all be exstatic about what we have here.

Seems to me Dai Dai is at the level that is a reasonable expectation for a 50-75ish ranked recruit as a sophomore. Not a high end hit. Certainly not a miss. Right around expectations

Don’t really need another pass first dude on this team…
I also liked Taines drive and not kicking to IMac… why should he when Coach keeps
Playing the dude 37 minutes a game … dude was bleeding and Coach goes - nah we’re good stay in when he’s got plenty of options at 2 guard.
Please play IMac 28-29 max

P.s. Isaac plays better when he plays a little less

We do need another ā€œpass wellā€ guy though with our A:TO ratio.

No, missing the kick out to the wide-open 50% 3P shooter is Bad, actually.

And I actually liked Sharma’s minutes where he drove and kick

Sharma running the point for the last 5 minutes or so was really nice. It’ll give us some idea what to expect after PG Rohde eventually graduates.

Uhhhh … if the Kanadian Kobe is playing PG for us after Rohde … what are we even doing???
