Once again, I could only watch a few minutes post Moana 2 (I liked it, sue me) and pre-Chutes and Ladders. Kids are the worst. They donāt even care about your bad takes reps. So selfish.
Scattershooting:
- saw some complaints about the green team minutes, but on the broadcast it seemed liked they kept talking about how Walkerās dad was a HC HOFer (maybe he knows Gordie Lockbaum).
- It was the most convincing of our cupcake wins, so thatās good
- Did I see a couple possessions of sides? Or was it just a similar action?
- It still feels like Nova is the only team we have played in our peer group, so I donāt have a really good sense of how good this team is. All I really know is that we are not a peer of the Johnnies or Tennessee. Letās see if we can keep it tight against Florida and then it feels like SMU is the first test of where we are in the firmament of what I think will be our peers. Like, are we a bubble team? A .500 team? Better? Worse? Or where in the middle? (Iām assuming we are somewhere in the range of 500 to bubble). But stay tuned. When you donāt have to play Chutes and Ladders.

Middle of road: we are going to need to see in-season improvement to hit .500. If you game out the match ups, that much becomes pretty clear. 20-21 wins is ceiling imo, and itād require really shoring up a bunch of stuffā¦ but ya know, things can change. People can change.

I am excited to see how we fare against Florida. They are a cut below St Johnās and Tennessee, but still good. It is also a road game. Could be ugly.
Wake hung around for a half (on a neutral site) and then looked miserable against them in the second half. If we perform better (especially on the road), it should be telling about the quality of the ACC and where we might finish.
Hopefully, Ron took some lessons from the Bahamas and has a better approach.

Man, Iām sadly in the pessimist post-game camp after having watched. To me that Holy Cross team looked really bad - basically no athleticism to speak of and just a few dudes who can shoot the ball well in a pick up game. We should look better against a team of that caliber if weāre going to be beating P5 teams with any consistency this year.
That said, I think itās totally fair for optimists to see hope in it. For me the needle trended slightly negative. But letās see how we fare against Florida and SMU and see if weāre actually making progress.
