Agreed- time to start anew with the program. Bennett ball does not work in the current environment. Sanchez and the entire staff should be replaced- bring in an up tempo young coach and staff that understands how to pressure the ball, coaches to attack the hoop and gets kids to play with urgency
Only players that should return are Cofie and Sharma, and maybe Rohde as a back up āglue guyā. Rest of the team should play elsewhere
That mights been one of the most disappointing games from start to finish Iāve watched in the last 15 years⦠and i watched the CSU and St Bonny games⦠and the Kiheave.
I donāt know if that could have been any more disheartening. Up until what around 14 min to go, when we cut the lead down to 2ā¦I was thinking weāre playing pretty well, just arenāt shooting for shit. Then, Louisville came out and hit the 3 and we got the off ball called. From then on, the wheels came off.
We had some funky lineups in for the next few minutes, Lville separated a little more. By the time our regulars were back, they never got into any sort of flow again. Probably worse was there was a lot of quit late.
I actually really like Ron as a person, really really good guy. However, if he keeps doing everything pretty much exactly the same way Tony did but with less attention to detail, heās going to make that decision in March pretty easy.
Iām just tired of watching the same lack of intensity, lack of offensive purpose, intentional disregard for transition offense or offensive rebounding that weāve seen for the last 3-4 years. Now, we donāt even have the lockdown defense to somewhat negate those things.
When this happened I had a bad feeling that this sequence would be what turned the tide of the game. Would imagine many others did as well. We were starting to get momentum on our side and then all of a sudden, bam it was just zapped away in one possession.
Very disappointing to say the least. ARob had a really bad game. No boxing out, confused in terms of help defense, and getting completely schooled by Louisvilleās bigs. Teamwise, I canāt understand not even bothering to try to get offensive rebounds when weāre down 10.
Louisville is certainly the better team. But what a flat effort in the second half.
Whoever thought running our offense through Cofie dribbling from the top of the key into the lane and attempting to finger roll should be fired tonight.
Iām excited for his future potential but my god that was horrific. And who wouldāve ever thought the problem wouldnāt be Rohde not being able to hang with ACC teams but instead itās like 2/3 of his teammates.
This is probably the most negative Iāll ever be here but man am I pissed I wasted a perfectly good Saturday afternoon attending that and staying for the majority of the second half. First time Iāve ever left a basketball game early though. Absolutely pathetic.
In post game - Ron said no idea when Bliss will be available. Can someone ask him a follow up to see if injury or that Bliss just doesnāt want to play.
Thereās not much he can say. Itās both. Heās been injured and doesnāt want to waste a year of eligibility after falling behind, just to get mop up minutes for a coach he didnāt sign up to play for and didnāt want to recruit him. If he suits up, he canāt get a medical redshirt. In the end, itās his choice when to return from injury. They arenāt going to blast a player in that situation.
This has become a thing around college hoops, there are several similar cases. With NIL, players want to preserve eligibility if they can.
I still donāt understand how he can hold us hostage while getting. uVA NIL. If he āwonātā play he should not be getting NIL. Sure thereās some
Breach language in the NIL deals.
Being injured is the loophole. You can clear a player, but itās still up to him if he feels heās up to playing. Thatās become the thingā¦players not wanting to waste eligibility if they arenāt 100%. Throw in the coaching change and this case being someone who isnāt going to play much anywayā¦why bother.
