šŸ€ Virginia vs Louisville, L, 70-50, 8-6 (1-2 ACC), Saturday, 4 January 2025, 1600, ACCN

Agreed- time to start anew with the program. Bennett ball does not work in the current environment. Sanchez and the entire staff should be replaced- bring in an up tempo young coach and staff that understands how to pressure the ball, coaches to attack the hoop and gets kids to play with urgency

Only players that should return are Cofie and Sharma, and maybe Rohde as a back up ā€œglue guyā€. Rest of the team should play elsewhere

The ACC revenge tour is gonna suck.

It’s annoying me way too much that all these analysts are saying they haven’t won in JPJ since 1990….:JPJ didn’t open until 16
Years later lol

Technically we went undefeated in JPJ from 1940-2006.

And this was a Louisville team with Koren Johnson and Kasean Pryor. You know who beat them full strength?

That mights been one of the most disappointing games from start to finish I’ve watched in the last 15 years… and i watched the CSU and St Bonny games… and the Kiheave.

I don’t know if that could have been any more disheartening. Up until what around 14 min to go, when we cut the lead down to 2…I was thinking we’re playing pretty well, just aren’t shooting for shit. Then, Louisville came out and hit the 3 and we got the off ball called. From then on, the wheels came off.

We had some funky lineups in for the next few minutes, Lville separated a little more. By the time our regulars were back, they never got into any sort of flow again. Probably worse was there was a lot of quit late.

I actually really like Ron as a person, really really good guy. However, if he keeps doing everything pretty much exactly the same way Tony did but with less attention to detail, he’s going to make that decision in March pretty easy.

I’m just tired of watching the same lack of intensity, lack of offensive purpose, intentional disregard for transition offense or offensive rebounding that we’ve seen for the last 3-4 years. Now, we don’t even have the lockdown defense to somewhat negate those things.

When this happened I had a bad feeling that this sequence would be what turned the tide of the game. Would imagine many others did as well. We were starting to get momentum on our side and then all of a sudden, bam it was just zapped away in one possession.

Very disappointing to say the least. ARob had a really bad game. No boxing out, confused in terms of help defense, and getting completely schooled by Louisville’s bigs. Teamwise, I can’t understand not even bothering to try to get offensive rebounds when we’re down 10.

Louisville is certainly the better team. But what a flat effort in the second half.

Pretty frustrating as a fan to watch the team quit on the court and look up and see Tony relaxing in a suite.

Realize he is probably just supporting his son, but the optics rub me the wrong way.

Pretty low on the list of grievances but whatever.

Worse for me is it is getting near impossible to watch. I will keep watching but dont expect anyone else to

Whoever thought running our offense through Cofie dribbling from the top of the key into the lane and attempting to finger roll should be fired tonight.

I’m excited for his future potential but my god that was horrific. And who would’ve ever thought the problem wouldn’t be Rohde not being able to hang with ACC teams but instead it’s like 2/3 of his teammates.

This is probably the most negative I’ll ever be here but man am I pissed I wasted a perfectly good Saturday afternoon attending that and staying for the majority of the second half. First time I’ve ever left a basketball game early though. Absolutely pathetic.

In post game - Ron said no idea when Bliss will be available. Can someone ask him a follow up to see if injury or that Bliss just doesn’t want to play.

Part of the problem is we suck.

It’s clear Bliss isnt going to play and Ron is maybe taking the high road. He’s probably aiming for a med rs then transfer.

There’s not much he can say. It’s both. He’s been injured and doesn’t want to waste a year of eligibility after falling behind, just to get mop up minutes for a coach he didn’t sign up to play for and didn’t want to recruit him. If he suits up, he can’t get a medical redshirt. In the end, it’s his choice when to return from injury. They aren’t going to blast a player in that situation.

This has become a thing around college hoops, there are several similar cases. With NIL, players want to preserve eligibility if they can.

I still don’t understand how he can hold us hostage while getting. uVA NIL. If he ā€˜won’t’ play he should not be getting NIL. Sure there’s some
Breach language in the NIL deals.

Being injured is the loophole. You can clear a player, but it’s still up to him if he feels he’s up to playing. That’s become the thing…players not wanting to waste eligibility if they aren’t 100%. Throw in the coaching change and this case being someone who isn’t going to play much anyway…why bother.
