Yeah, I didnāt mean to single out Rohde to the exclusion of others or be mean-spirited - thereās plenty to fret about across the board. Rohdeās level isnāt the most concerning of the lot, some of them have almost become irrelevant. Itās just amazing how fast the programās level has fallen and the frequency with which we see blowouts.
Iām also not normally one to be overly critical of college kids. Iām still trying to reconcile in my own mind an appropriate level of criticism for athletes who are now reportedly making more than the median household income and every teacher and emergency responder in the country.
FWIW, I donāt think thereās anything wrong with being critical of players, coaches⦠the program at large (within reason).
I just think itās an odd choice of target considering how that game went. He was the leading scorer, shot 50% from the field, had 3 steals, was second on the team in rebounds (behind Taine, eep), and played the best defense on Hepburn of any of our guys.
You could probably correctly argue that Andrew Rohde was our best player tonight. Granted, that is commentary on the state of things⦠but, still.
Exactly. Thatās on the coaches. Tony was the head coach who was responsible for the roster. I wish he had stayed another 20 years. But he quit on his team. Letās get through this season and move on.
Louisville is starting to get the rep of having the little white guy who comes off the bench shooting 25 footers the same way Syracuse kept having a guy who looked like they recruited him from juvenile detention to play the 2.
My original posts were about what seems to be a poor relationship between Sanchez and Bliss and Bliss not playing. The reference to Rohde was about the need to try everything possible to develop young talent. It was a commentary on the team throughout the season, not something Louisville-specific. Still, saying Rohde had the best game in a 20-point home loss to a team that was completely assembled out of nothing is damning with faint praise. The program needs an overhaul.
