Haslam prediction for tonight… predicts a close win… now for perspective, it predicted a close win against Wisconsin as well…
Current projections only predict 2 more losses this season… at Clemson and at Duke…

I do like Haslam’s team pages, good transparency on the predictions and corresponding movements in team rankings.
Dandridge is an interesting player. Memphis native playing his 5th year at the school. Roughly averaged 12-15 minutes a game each year with no notable increases as he got more experienced.
Don’t see many guys stick it out like that these days. Almost everyone else would go somewhere else after they graduated in search of more playing time, 5th year or earlier.
Memphis -3.5
Only two outcomes.
We lockdown Quinerly and Jones, they struggle in the half court and without transition opportunities and like vs Clemson their 3pt shot isn’t falling. And Hoos wake up after a needed wake up call and rust shaken off. Our ball movement slices and dices their non-sound defense and generates wide open 3pt looks and drives to the rim. Memphis not playing through their bigs lets Buchanan be more effective like vs Florida. Hoos win by 7
They come out with more energy than us. Their age gap shows as their team average age is like 30 while ours is 19. Rohde is still hobbled and Gertrude is still minutes limited. We struggle with their pressure D and generating open looks; McKneely can’t get open, Dunn and Bond not really used or aggressive, Bad Groves shows up today, and Buchanan gets worked inside. Our true first road game. Memphis wins by 20.
There is no inbetween.
Hmm. Opened at -2.5
People gambling see win over #13 Clemson and UVA struggling at home vs Northeastern. Also maybe Rohde injury being more established?
We are wearing white tonight cause Memphis is doing a blue out. So technically not a home game right?
This doesn’t seem far from the truth, and I feel like we’ll know very early into this one which way the game is going to go. Need to start strong.
In games where we’ve been blown out (@Hou, Gonzaga, @Purdue, Wisconsin) we started slowly and were in big holes early. Can’t have that on the road
I’m usually pretty optimistic about games but I have a terrible feeling about tonight’s game. This being the first true road game and it’s against a quality team who has played a lot of tough games already…seems like a bad situation for us. Hopefully Christmas break minimizes their home court advantage.
Obviously hope I’m wrong but my guess is we lose by double digits.
Forgot about the battled tested point. Memphis 5-2 against power 5 comp. We are 4-1 (but id reckon their sos in this group is much stronger than ours).
Prior to the season I had us only winning one of the Florida A&M Memphis games. To go 2-1 would still be really good. Just want to not get blown out today. Competitive. A win would be cool too I guess.
Our Bench at the moment is 2 true freshmen and 1 redshrit freshman. I love it from a development perspective long term. Pretty meh on it in terms of a winning tonight approach but its fine
Wins are overrated. We could use a real nice quality loss on the schedule, might even get us ranked on Seth Davis’s poll next week.
Feels to me like the road game Houston. We’ll see.
Really?? I’d rather be wearing our blues (we wore white twice in Fort Myers so yeah).
I’d be really disappointed if we let Quinerly beat us. I think we should be able to frustrate the hell out of him.
Interesting scheduling quirk - they haven’t played at Home in over a month, and have played at FedEx only twice so far.
I was gonna say that they aren’t really beating any decent teams by double digits, but then noticed those are all road/neutral games.
Fwiw, I have never even been near Memphis, but listening to Gary Parrish and other Memphis sports personalities over the years leads me to think that Memphis is mostly a commuter school, and sorta like Louisville, Memphis is more of a local fanbase, than student-based fanbase so I’d bet on a raucous crowd excited for a top 25 matchup (but strikes me more like an NBA atmosphere than typical college?).
They have great fans and love basketball in Memphis yes
so far I seeing EG as unaffected by this weird mental cloud UVA seems to suffer from in most of our games. He’s a baller and can clearly create for himself. Hope to see 20+ mins of him tn
