Way too high.
At that point UVA had 3 rushing yards. Ended with 7. Take out the sacks and you get 32 yards.
My personal wishlist for OC:
- Brennan Marion, UNLV OC
- Dean Kennedy, JMU OC
- Willy Korn, Liberty OC
- Mack Leftwich, Texas State OC
- Tim Beck, Vanderbilt OC
- Joe Moorhead, Akron HC
More realistic options given Elliottâs preference for keeping within his own connections:
- Taylor Lamb, UVA QB coach
- Joe Craddock, Tulane OC
- CJ Spiller, Clemson RB coach
- Brandon Streeter, Georgia offensive analyst
Not sure how interested any of these guys would be if we made a move, theyâd be coming into a situation where they might only get one year on the job. Streeter or Lamb would probably make the most sense if thatâs the case. I have a HC wishlist too but will wait on that one.
I voted that he would get another year. But thatâs courtesy of Tony Bennett - just donât think the Athletic Department wants to make two major coaching hires.
That was before we were getting embarrassed though. Until this point losses were respectable. I could maybe see if these scores are all blowouts it may create more appetite. But then you wonder if you want Carla making that next hireâŚ.
Besides Elliott, what other coaching hires have been made under Carla Williams? Seems to be a lot of doubt here of her judgement. Not saying thatâs right or wrong, I just donât keep track of other sports closely enough to understand.
Volleyball
Womenâs basketball both Tina (LMAO) and Mox (I have hope)
Womenâs softball? Might be little page idk
Tina Thompson was a disaster, then after that Mox seems to be looking decent. She hired Wesley Ng as our new rowing coach which I think was a pretty popular decision (donât know much about rowing).
I didnât realize she was around to choose Thompson, definitely a strike there. Mox seems promising though.
Great list, but I donât think a new OC fixes what weâve got going on here.
I donât think it wouldâve helped today, but weâd be 6-2 right now with another better OC in my opinion.
Volleyball and Softball are both having some of their best seasons as programs. And Mox certainly has the womenâs team heading in the right directionâŚ
Just adding context for those hires. Tina was horrific but I think weâd all be lying if we said when the hire was made we were pissed about it. Felt like it had potential before she actually took the court.
But with that I do believe Carla showed she can adjust/learn on the job and did a much better the second time hiring for the sport. Hopeful that type of learning translates when she makes the next football hires as well.
If and when the time comes to hire a new coach (football or menâs basketball), should @UVApride7 do an LRA guest blog? Nobody is more prepared.
- yes
- hell yes
Lmao that shit would be 40 pages long.
I made an abridged post going over some HC candidates I liked last year and it ended up being my longest post ever Iâm pretty sure. I would be down to do it if people would be interested though, itâs my one weird thing I like covering in sports.
The Tina and Elliot hires were definitely flashy hires. Big names and big histories but neither really experienced as head coaches.
Man I wanted Elliot to work out. His backstory is incredible. And even though I questioned the fit from day 1, I really do think he was the best leader needed during the tragedy.
Fresh wins
My opinions are definitive.
1 - you need to be HOF coach to win at UVA
2 - Bronco is a HOF coach
3 - my impression of CTEâs coaching ability is sub-optomal
Are you in the loop? Or neck talking?
Oh thatâs 100% speculation from just me.
We would be 6 - 2 with more consistent QB play.
A better OC would either fit the offense to complement AC better, or realize that Muskett is a better fit for what they want to run. Des has done neither.
Also our redzone woes cost us the Maryland and UL games.
